Because he’s on the market and he’s better than anything we’ve got. Not fucking rocket science
We have to take a longer view of the squad than that, we have zinchenko and Mendy on contracts throwing in another just because he’s a bit better isn’t an answer. When we go for a left back he’s got to be the answer for a few years at least.
Think myself Ake will prove better at left back than Mendy, Zinchenko or Telles. If we were going for any It would have been Tagliafico for me.

Unfortunately the rags are getting a solid player in Telles. I really don't understand why City passed up on the chance to sign him.

A LB is the least of their worries, my word, we think our defence had issues!!

Romano says he only wanted United. If we made an offer and he made that decision, just have to let him regret it.

Not all signings require a long-term vision, not every signing has to be 40-60m, between the ages of 20-25. We have a problem and, sometimes, a short-term fix especially for a low cost like 15m does the job we need when we need it. I'm fairly certain Telles will prove better than anyone we have at LB atm, our position really does boggle the mind. Teams are consistently targetting Mendy.

No, but then when next year we still need a left back and we have Mendy, Zinchenko and Telles on contracts refusing to leave how do we bring a 4 th in?

That would depend on our recruitment and due diligence. We need a LB, that seems a certainty. Whether Telles is the guy will only be found out when he plays for them but if he turns out good, then questions need to be asked. I doubt that Gosens/Tagliafico/Telles will turn out badly and need replacing.

Its going to take time for Telles to settle and they are in a far worse state.

Yeah but he's still shit and would have to be replaced it's not fucking rocket science.
Can’t have a team of world beaters can we. Why not try and improve one of our main weaknesses in the squad? Not just on playing ability but also on availability. If you hadn’t noticed we’ve only got ONE left back in the squad. Ake is a CB and Zinchenko is a CAM.

So again, I ask, why would you not be happy to get him in for a relatively low cost when he improves the availability in the position and is also a better player than Mendy?

Not sure professional scouts look at a player in those terms , and would probably result in teams ending up with multiple average players instead of players that actually bring qualities to a team.

could you not argue we have our fair amount of ‘average players’ ?

No because I dont see the point in signing another shit left back 'just for the time being'. I rather we signed one for the long term. How many left backs have we gone through and still not got it right.
Why we didn't sign Reguilon for £20m plus is beyond me.
We constantly just stick someone in there hoping to do a job and it never works it always comes back to bite us in the ass.
I know what you mean he's better than Mendy and a low price but personally i would rather we stopped this thing of he'll do for the time being.
