Newcastle put a value on his head , say £130m , Liverpool can’t get near it and offer a max of £120m
Newcastle knock back their bids and Isaac signs a new big contract with a release clause of £120m that becomes active next summer
Newcastle save a bit of face and Liverpool get their man next season
Meanwhile Newcastle quietly sell Livramento to City for £70m , which frees up the funds for Issacs pay rise and allows them to build their squad out for CL football
If only. That would be great, but unfortunately fucking scousers, or arses and rags always get these players because they’re willing to pay. We seem hellbent on trying to save £5m on £60m+ transfers.
We’d be fucking unstoppable if only we’d just go that bit higher for players that would absolutely make a difference. It still pisses me off thinking how we balked at paying for van dijk, then again Rice, now it’ll be Livramento. All would have stopped rivals doing as well, kept us as far ahead as when we had prime Vinnie, Yaya and David Silva, but now because of the reticence to pay the absolute top fees Liverpool, arsenal and Chelsea have pretty much caught up.
Yes we’ve won a lot, we’ve got plenty right. But we could have been even better.
