Fairs fair for me, Starmer battered Boris last couple of weeks but Boris today answered fairly and countered well to his points after a bumbly start

The fact it was better doesn't make it good. He bumbled the first answer and although he had some rehearsed lines that were good lines they didn't quite fit the discussion. He was also forced to commit to something that he will now f**kup and we can all see it coming. Making bold commitments is a good look - but when you start to regularly fail to deliver they lose there impact. The commitment to track and trace will be seen in light of the commitment to testing and that has been a failure.

The error is to not have an effective testing structure in the first place. Hammering the word "capacity" in there to move the goalposts and try and pretend 200k "capacity" amounts to 200k completed and informative test results is a failure in itself. If the main complaint is that he's not doing a great job at masking his failings rather than the failings themselves then we really are setting the bar low.

And without track and trace the testing is only partially worthwhile - when they come back to sit in their new plastic boxes its going to be an interesting few days - that will be the 2nd June - by then 200k tests per day will be being done - promise. Track and trace will be fully functioning - promise. 25k call centre trackers recruited trained and on the front line - promise. Kids back at school - was promised now an aspiration. Wonder how few of those will be kept or reworded in the next 2 weeks.

Also - if JRM gets his way - I wonder how being in a goldfish bowl sat 2m apart rather than huddled together will affect his baying mob? Some will doubtless feel a bit silly and exposed sat there and what effect will it have on the acoustics? Most of the time surely their baying will be bouncing off the sides and deafening themselves........this could be yet another plan that backfires.

He's spent 4 days working ferociously on what Keir will ask him and how he can counter. Let's give him a bit of respite with the other questions for now.

should have spent 4 days trying on various makes of fridge for size then he could have it next to the dispatch box so when the questions get a bit hard he can slip into his safe place.

Please tell me (unless Im missing something ) how have they recruited 24,000 people when

1) We've been in lockdown - no travelling for interviews and social distancing.

2) They've not placed any advertisements in the paper or TV / Radio

3) these tracers will need to be in touch with minors / vulnerable and elderly people they will need to be DBS checked so has it been done and whose paid for that ?

Or is he telling lies again.
Been recruiting on indeed understand using local govt officers who find themselves with little to do at the moment.

Rather odd that someone who says he supports Johnson on one issue only expends so much effort doing his best to minimise any criticism of him by attacking nearly every poster critical of his performance.
Meanwhile he’s fully supportive of his role in agreeing a Brexit WA that introduces a foreign power monitoring an internal UK border.
Have you replied to the right post??

Precisely why the word needs to be there people can't be forced to take a test all government can do is provide the capability

They've provided one strand of it. The test only serves its purpose if it's accessible to all who want/need it and the results delivered on time. Theyre counting tests as being completed when results haven't come back. They can argue the semantics of at what point they call a test "complete" as much as they want but without the results being returned in time for people to act on them we aren't seeing the benefit. And without that, you won't convince teachers and other workers it's the right time to return to work. Capacity isn't the end goal however much they want us to believe it is.
