Alexandole Boris de Pfeffel Johnson

Won't damage him much. Every Tory Party member I've seen interviewed appears to be totally detached from reality. They all just laugh every time he says something stupid.

Don't they just. It's like he is a character in a 70s comedy show.
It's cringeworthy.

This won't damage him at all with the tory voters, I'd argue it will probably enhance his standing. They're all convinced the civil service is evil, probably don't have an issue with Trump (he tells it like it is etc.) and are probably celebrating that this diplomat got the hoof. As soon as that **** gets into number 10 though, there will be even more knives out for him. It's going to be nuts... The tories will have a PM that half their own MPs don't want (so exactly the same situation if Labour gets in with Corbyn).

The next US ambassador could be appointed by May and Hunt but could he be sacked by Boris before he takes up his post?

Farage anyone?

If it's up to Johnson it will probably be Piers Morgan. He has all the attributes that would appeal to him:
Trump arse licker. check
No diplomatic experience. check
Brexit bullshitter. check
Loud mouth who talks over people. check
Unpronounceable toff full name. check
Big red stupid face. check

They should but let’s not expect anything off Johnson, that’s the right thing to do.

Darroch’s obviously concerned now that he and his family are targets so it’s time to go and I don’t blame him.

A problem here is that Darroch is not there as a civil servant representing the FCO. He is there as the Monarch's personal representative. He speaks for her. When he insults the Head of State of a host country, he is speaking for the Monarch as well as HMG.

They need to find who leaked his report. Like everything at that level, Yes Minister will have the answer.

Hacker: You just said that the Foreign Office was keeping something from me! How do you know if you don't know?

Bernard: I don't know specifically what, Prime Minister, but I do know that the Foreign Office always keep everything from everybody. It's normal practice.

Hacker: Who does know?

Bernard: May I just clarify the question? You are asking who would know what it is that I don't know and you don't know but the Foreign Office know that they know that they are keeping from you so that you don't know but they do know and all we know there is something we don't know and we want to know but we don't know what because we don't know! Is that it?

Hacker: May I clarify the question: Who knows Foreign Office secrets, apart from the Foreign Office?

Bernard: Oh, that's easy: only the Kremlin.

So who gains an advantage by upsetting the UK - US relationship.

Say what you will about Hitler, but at least people took him seriously.

I think if you look back he started out much like a Farage type character - on the fringe of being taken seriously. It took him years of building the blame culture before he started making gains in elections and building power, he held back on some of his more controversial beliefs the closer he got to power. Then unleashed an onslaught of propaganda once in power to normalise his extremism.

So who gains an advantage by upsetting the UK - US relationship.

This is a strange one. It is hard to see who really benefits. Lots of damage. Maybe the question should be who suffers the least? Or could it be a very poorly calculated move - intended to do one thing but has spun out of control. Makes the brexiteers look like Trump stooges.

I suspect a miscalculation where the intention was to make the civil service look bad but the impact has been that the whole UK Government looks weak. That exposes a critical flaw in brexit - the idea we are a strong independent nation that can take on the other world powers alone. Not if this is how it is going to play out with Trump ordering the firing of public officials and Boris refusing to stand up to him.

My guess is that the source of the leak will not be found unless it’s decided it was a Russian hack.

Why ? Because the people at the centre of this will be protected.

The thought of this **** bring Prime Minister makes me feel sick.

Get ready to vomit - he could tell the faithful he would have a shit in Westminster Abbey and it won't matter. Just be happy that it will be a short lived almost temporary appointment as his past and future combine to fuck him over as he does us.

Short lived or not, it will still represent a new low in public life.

200,000 tory party members get to vote on this fucking chump, thus deciding the fate of brexit, the future of the 'special realtionship', the health service etc etc.
How the fuck is this democracy?

Would it be any different with Labour in power and the membership deciding for them and the country?

I agree with you btw but it’s not a situation unique to the Tory party or any other for that matter.

I get sicker every day that the seemingly inevitable is about to happen.
The ballot papers sent back and counted already means it's probably happened by now.

I blame the parents.
