I posted the other day, they really misjudged the mood around the England team and talking the side of those booing taking the knee was an horrendous mistake. People see the football team as representing them, the Tories fucked up and it is the first big mistake they have made in these culture wars and it is a big fucking mistake.

This could run and run and it negates their culture war approach. Labour and the SNP should attack the government over it every week. Because it is a winner.

This is a real possibility.
When you have a government which is consumed by its own overweening personal and political ambition, and sees everything through the prism of their own sneery arrogance, then there will surely come a point when they they do overstep the mark and completely fail to divine the mood of the voter (to whom of course, they rarely can be bothered to speak to, except when they want a vote).
