I've long held that they'll only dispense with his services after the public inquiry. They'll see to it that he isn't blamed for it, of course, but they'll use that moment to draw a line under his stewardship and prepare the ground for the next General Election. No degree of high dudgeon over refurbishments, quiz nights, and nibbles will change that.The problem here is like the wallpaper in the flat it's been going on for so long with nearly every day a 'new' revelation saying the same thing (he had a cheese and wine party in the back garden) that it just becomes background noise. Boris will go at some point prior to the next ge I think, but not now - this is just the latest in a string of things every week that we are giddily told he can't survive.
