Genuinely curious as to why anyone who wanted to see a labour government at the next election would want him to go?

surely him limping on to the next GE is by far and away their best hope of getting elected?

Sunak or Truss with 2 years in there and a 80 seat majority to get whatever policies they want in before a GE, beat Starmer comfortably imo.

Boris 10 points behind in the polls and large numbers of his mp’s rebelling and his cabinet calling the shots gets nothing virtually done between now and a GE.

Because some things are more important than thinking about the future politically. Not calling for his resignation would be effectively allowing a sitting PM to break both the ministerial code and the law.

I don’t think Sunak or Truss would win comfortably. There’s a lot of hardship to come in the next couple of years and I don’t think the culture war is going to be as big an all-encompassing vote winner that Brexit was, no matter how hard they try to make it.

Discrediting all politicians is one of the stepping stones to authoritarianism. Do you really think that every single one of them lies, if you do you are in fact attacking the parliamentary system, you are attacking every person who votes in good faith, you are attacking democracy itself.
I do actually, based on the fact that they are human and we as humans lie by nature, basically as a form of defense.

Lets hope Johnson stays as PM the longer this drags on the more damage it does to the tories. I am sure there's much more to come on these parties, so let him have his sham investigation I'm sure we can all good laugh. The next GE with him as party leader will be such a hoot.
Cannot agree, the longer he stays the more damage he can do. This isn't just about trying now to humiliate him ( he does that expertly himself), it's about what is best for the UK. Having him lead us, is not a good position.
Also, what international message does is send out keeping him in no 10?

The ’work event’ is the main point of his argument. By saying that he is keeping himself within the laws as it would’ve been allowed but the question what happens with the 40 revellers who were actually at the party, surely each and every one of them will face charges?

They should face fines - but hey that was 2020 - that was the law but that was in the past and as they have told us themselves the Met don't investigate historic crimes of this nature despite the fact that they have a confession that it took place from the top man himself

It's been deeply unedifying to see the rise of the "they are all the same" narrative to defend the dispicable actions of the most unethical and incompetent Prime Minster in British history. I guess that's cognitive dissonance at its best. People need to rationalise to themselves that they refused to identify that an obvious moron was a moron, even though every non-moron in the country told them he was a moron and every peice of available evidence showed that he had always had been a moron. "They are all the same" is literally their brain's only way out from the inevitable logical conclusion.

Agreed, I think it's very concerning. We are heading faster and faster toward a period where the general public lose all faith in public or governing bodies, which is exactly why the conspiracy theorists have been rising.

A convenient positive test to pull him out of the firing line for a day or 2.

Never saw that coming…….
