You've unintentionally proven my point with your analogy. If a large hole in the Titanic was blocked up and a few small ones left, then the ship would have indeed sunk, however they would have had longer to get lifeboats launched and a rescue party in place and less lives would have been lost. Reading back across to Covid, a more proactive approach would have slowed down the spread and saved lives. Yes, Covid would still have killed lots of people but maybe a few 10s of thousands less. The same number would probably eventually have caught it but by then treatments and vaccines would have been in place to save some of them.

I read that and understand it, I have to accept that mistakes were made - but it was a quite unprecedented situation. I also think he got bad advice from scientists, but again - it was something new and even the scientists were disagreeing with one another about what to do and when. I was lucky that I didn't lose anyone close to me to Covid-19 but I can comprehend that anyone who did, would hold the government and Johnson in contempt - I get that.

The Met are not going to come out of this looking good
They were forced into investigating after coming up with the ridiculously bizarre "we don't investigate after the crime". Is anyone surprised that they had the job sanitized? Now let's see how long the Sue Grey report gets delayed as several pages have to be amended to avoid looking like Boris's version.

Sky news reporting they have confirmation that Johnson asked Sue Gray to DROP the report at the meeting he called with her.

He is toast

I think that's what Cummings has been saying all along, isn't it?

Johnson turning on the Civil Service at the same time is not going to make them feel well-disposed towards him.
Very soon he is going to run out of rope Cummings is right on that score. Its impossible to keep everyone on side when this is costing people their jobs and fines. If Sue Grey doesn't see Johnson off then it will be the select committee, then if they don't pull the trigger then this will drag on and on. The pandora's box is open and Johnson knows that he is living on borrowed time.

And so the gaslighting begins

Michael Green here telling Sky News the picture wasn't showing a party

"Who has been sent out to lie to save my skin?"
"Shapps, sir."
"Shapps? The feeble, useless idiot who can't answer a question?"
"Yes, sir, that Shapps."
*sighs*
"Step outside for a moment, would you? Oh, and leave the revolver."

Obviously this would only apply to a man of honour, and therefore is irrelevant.

Not really - you just missed off the last line which reads

"shoots the messenger in the back as he exits via the door"
