As others have said. IF the tories appoint a sensible candidate Sir Keir suddenly has a fight on his hands.

Depends who standing. Will their be an appetite for another cultures wars stoker within their membership, or is their a non offensive, abeit dull charachter that would be competent enough to win an election with a 20/30 seat majority?

To have someone in charge who is in touch with reality. It's really not a good idea having someone running the country whose only priority is himself especially at a time the country is facing a cost of living crisis made worse by government incompetence.

Do you honestly think Raab or whoever won’t try and use it as an extended job interview? Imagine Patel in charge, she’d have the English Channel mined to show how tough she is on immigration! If the 1922 committee wanted to expedite the election process they surely can? they don’t need to spend weeks or months just because that’s how it’s been done before. I don’t think Johnson can dictate his timing for going once a new leader, thus PM, has been elected.

it's a divided country, two-party politics means what one hates the other loves. throw in the London versus the rest, the old v young, inherited wealth v renters, expoiters v exploited, it becomes the least worse is what you are forced to choose. f'kin mess.
I think the Tories also played the workers v the work shy card very effectively.

Your wasting your time.
Unfortunately there are quite a few on here with the it’s my way or the highway that think just like him. They are on each and every politics thread so very easy to spot.
Fortunately they are a minority and will never be in a position of power so they are harmless really.
How dare people think about families struggling!

The utter gall of these Cunts, hey?

Dunno - is there a point to Dominic Raab ? Answers on a postcard to...........

that's a different question.
I could see Raab being so rabbit in headlights frozen that he wouldn't do anything nuts, and hopefully the more nuts Patel/Mogg moves would be neutered.

I don't see that keeping Johnson for months while Parliament doesn't sit is a safe move.

Possibly not, although there's hardly an abundance of outstanding candidates lined up to replace him. Suella Braverman and Steve Baker the first to throw their hats into the ring, god help us. The leadership election could yet further divide the Conservative party too.

Ben Wallace or Douglas Ross? A lot of the supposed big hitters are a bit too right wing to win IMHO.

If any of those are elected PM, the chances of Labour winning at the next election increase dramatically.

Either the cost of living crisis is eased on people, or this government is toast, whoever takes over.

Starmer can taunt them with their association with BJ in the same way BJ taunts Starmer with his links to Corbyn.
