What is the UK's stance? Or more to the point what is Boris Johnson's stance?

That's the point... we can't say with any degree of certainty that it will be detrimental until we choose that option can we... that's what they want you to believe... that it will all go pear shaped... unless you have a crystal ball then I'd say we have zero clue what might happen...
You don't need a crystal ball to work out that new tariffs on most of our exports and the potential for customs checks on ALL trade won't be detrimental.

What happens if there’s a GE which the Conservatives win but Boris loses his seat? Very possible after his big majority has slipped considerably in the last couple of elections.
They just choose another idiot, there's a whole warehouse of them.

A Norway option. Swiss option. A Canada style option etc. Nowhere, absolutely nowhere was the prospect of ripping everything up mentioned prior to May's "no deal is better than a bad deal" speech
But the only way we can have a similar option is for the EU to play ball and, correct me if I am wrong, they won't confirm that a deal along those lines is a possibility will they until the May Deal is dead... So you are basically saying that we fucked up as a nation in terms of expecting those agreements to fall in our lap... That feels pretty obvious at this point

Has anybody got a rope? :-)

A working man on 80k with 3 kids should not be paying 40% of his earnings over 45 or 50k or whatever the current threshold is. It is a joke and oppressing hard work and achievement.
At the expense of a public sector worker (or anyone else) on half that. Tory vermin.

If Brexit fizzles out then this was a monumental waste of our money, time and effort

Regarding the WTO exit then you may be right with the numbers above but it isn't likely anyway is it.. it's like the nuclear deterrent... it won't get used but it has to be there doesn't it.. unless you are like the professional protester who wants to be the first to give it up
You would just get laughed at if you turned up at a gunfight with just a knife.
Or you'd get shot if you waved your knife about.

Everyone I know in the public sector has retired at 55. A tax threshold raise would raise more in Tax - are you aware of that?
