First Cameron, now Johnson.
You're as credulous as hell mate.
Credulous, I assume, because, unlike you I'm capable of objective thought, ongoing reappraisal of my perspective on a subject and sometimes, changing my views and admitting I was wrong, as I have done over Cameron, something you doubtless view as a weakness, but I hold to be a strength; in any event, your comments about my credulity are water off a duck's back, as I'm certain I'm better equipped to deal with the rough and tumble associated with the inherent dishonestly and venality of men than most - something I do every working day with no little skill and something I'm very well rewarded for so doing.

So, for the avoidance of doubt, as you appear to have failed to grasped the simple point I was advancing; Johnson's rise, in spite of his dishonesty and malign nature, is remarkable because he was widely derided as a figure of fun only a few short years ago, unlike (to any meaningful extent) any previous incoming PM. That is a remarkable achievement and the fact you were unable to decipher that from what I posted, or are unable to acknowledge it, indicates that you are incapable of applying your mind objectively to political thought, which is your loss and reflects far more poorly on you than it does me.

Honesty is often mistaken for credulity.

I wouldn't discount that isn't as ridiculous or amazing as it looks, there has been moves and counter moves throughout johnsons career, he has made a habot of manouvering to get himself into positions he wanted.

2 years ago he may have been being laughed and dismissed, but hos timings have been spot on.

Dropping out of the last leadership race leaving may to deliver the impossible task, remember if he had got the job then he would probably be out on his arse now and being called as bad as may has been.

Quiting the foriegn office, a job he was neither interested or good enough to do, but timed perfectly to look like a brexit champion.
Timing his making of his devisive comments that will be a right wingers wet dream, but not during a time where May is looking like quiting so not in a time frame to damage any leadership contest.

Not getting directly involved with the ERG, but saying just enough to get them to back him.
All the time cashing in on the lovable boris the harmless buffoon persona he cultivate early on and while as mayor, cashing in just enough that he isn't scrutinises for some past indescretions that much.

I don't see this inexpected rise or comeback, more a well orchestrated set of goals and with the help he has had, using timing and manouvering to eventually get where he wanted.

There's not much I can disagree with in there, but I'm referring to a time before he had a cabinet post and of course he's had help along the way, but that isn't in any way unexpected; so has Corbyn.

I suppose anyone attaining high office is some sort of achievement, but has anyone else done so having been widely viewed so unseriously only a few short years earlier?

That is my point and something I view as a noteworthy achievement, notwithstanding Johnson's wider shortcomings.
