Alexandole Boris de Pfeffel Johnson

Its a bit much to lament the abuse of our PM by Trump and its office when you read some of the stuff that gets said on here mate lol ;-)

The relationship is special.

From defence to security to trade, its huge and long after Trump has fucked off and we have got rid of idiots like Boris we can get back to days and times where the relationship between the two Nations is once again admired and cherished.

This is 100% hatred of Trump and its manifesting itself wrongly imo.

Not sure a sub-section of a football forum is on the same level but hell our country, our rules. I will slag off May or whoever until the cows come home. But Trump isn’t just demeaning May. He is demeaning the office of PM just as May demeaning Trump also demeans the office of President and this matters.

And it’s only special to us. Other countries trade more with the US, the Canadians are more deeply embedded at State level on trade matters and right now the French are seen as better partners militarily then us. We define ourselves through our relationship with the US. The US doesn’t, irrespective of who is President. It’s unhealthy and I think has prevented the U.K. from finding its true post-war voice and role.

I'd like to see evidence of the sudden preference for all things French military as i dont see it?

As for our post war voice our emergence as a nuclear power alongside the US and Russians saw to it that our voice was heard along with our major role within NATO.

London emerged as a global financial services superpower and still is to this day.

Our economy given the size of our islands geographically and our military power alongside our intelligence services ensure we are a global power and key ally and partner including being a permanent member of the five eyes intelligence agency.

I honestly dont get the belittling of our great nation?

Well leaving aside that unlike the French we do not have an independent nuclear deterrent and that the French run their own intelligence gathering which allows them to barter with the US as they will have access to intelligence not seen by the US and vice versa; cast your mind back to the only visible military operation launched by Trump which was bombing Syrian airfields in retaliation for the chemical/gas attack in conjunction with UK and French forces.

The assets used by the U.K. were 8 fighters and one type 45 destroyer and a sub. The French deployed a strike group of four frigates plus a tanker along with 9 planes plus early warning planes and tankers with a US sub embedded with the strike group. This is not about ‘belittling our great nation’ but recognition of were we are and acknowledging that other nations can sometimes put more assets in the field than we can. We could do better I think if we had a more independent or strategic outlook or maintain the links with US middle or senior officer corps that have a very close relationship with French colleagues especially through Syria and Africom cooperation.

In Africa the nations the US goes to are the French, Italian and Portuguese as France and Portugal especially have kept links, contacts and relations with former colonies that we haven’t done. Italy is very heavily invested in North Africa as is France. We have largely abandoned the area. Italy has more troops in Afghanistan than we do (or did last time I checked).

We kind of assume it’s us and the Americans going hand in hand and it’s us the Americans turn to and sometimes it will be but as often or not there is close cooperation with other European nations and to an extent that would surprise many in the U.K. Personally I think we are complacent and arrogant about other nations and what they are doing or even the areas they are involved in - remember the recent rescue of US hostage in Burkina Faso a month or so back? French forces at the request of the US.

Casual assumptions about the U.K. and what it can and cannot do or its relationships with other nations in my view needs a reset because right now we are not in a healthy place.

You lost me at unlike the french we don't have an independent nuclear deterrent.

You don't. You can't use it without the U.S. allowing you to coopt their satellite targeting system, as you don't have one of your own.

Absolute unadulterated rubbish mate, sorry.

Our fleet of vanguard subs is laughing loudly right now.

They dont use GPS targeting, trust me.

Absolute fact insa, you don't have the necessary targeting system. I suppose you could try to sail the subs to Moscow, Shangai or Washington and aim manually but I'm not sure how you'd manage that. Hardly MAD territory for those countries.

just to bring the thread back to boris, can I just say that In hate the buffoon almost as much as I detest jacob reese mogg and that twat farrage

frankly if the fucker was on fire I wouldnt waste my piss

You are talking rubbish.

Do we share maintenance on the missiles and systems used? Yes we do.

Do we use a satellite based GPS targeting system? No

Does the Royal navy use a launch code system like the US? No we dont.

Seriously mate its been great on here today and you have come on tonight and from the off gone full on Brit bashing mode as per usual.

Not interested, especially so when you are spouting bollocks to boot.

The Trident D5 Missile doesn't used satillite GPS at all in its targeting system, command and control to fire would come from the Prime Minister using UK codes and UK equipment.

Ah, yes, the 'stellar sighting' system. Better hope it's not overcast or a full moon when you're fired upon.
