I'm no fan of the backstop but the point you failed to grasp was that it is a matter of opinion whether it would be worse than No Deal, and as MPs have also had several votes rejecting No Deal, any opinion that No Deal is preferable to the backstop cannot be substantiated by the fact that MPs also rejected it.

To be fair it does sound like the sort of f**kwitted idea that he would come up with.

They were forever getting beached on the pavement when trying to negotiate corners or bursting into flames.

That's before you take into account that there were only about a dozen seats on the things.

I've long since thought that there should be some sort of independent fact checker who each side has to consult before they're allowed to publish figures which were clearly misleading.

Well have a look at the judgement in the recent case the judge said there was no complaint against this figure as the on,y contention is whether gross or net

I said this previously, either here or on the Brexit thread. The only way he can stop the other parties and Tory rebels amending a bill to block no deal is by refusing to introduce any legislation. However, that'll make them introduce a motion of no confidence which he'll lose and then it goes to a GE. He's confident I'll give him that. Still a **** though.

My guess is that he’ll introduce legislation, let them amend it and then call an election on the basis that parliament is trying to frustrate the will of the people. I don’t think he’ll wait until he loses a confidence vote
