Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

She is an absolute whirlwind, and you can bet that Republicans are desperately trying to dig up dirt on her in order to discredit her.

what like admitting on tape that she grabs guys by the penis because she can get away with it? That she intends to install all her family members into her cabinet regardless of their abilities. That maybe she will insist on some sort of meaningless gesture politics like building a fence around Chicago and getting the Chicagans to pay for it? I can't see anybody running on a ticket like that and expecting success.

All I see of this woman is the same tax the rich mantra we've seen fail every time it was tried.
What happens if these billionaires decide they don't fancy handing over almost threequarters of what they
have earned? Most, particularly nowadays, will find ways not to pay, or decamp, break up their holdings
or simply decamp elsewhere, then what?
Plus, there are simply not enough of them to support every demand, so even if they didn't do any of the above,
and the money allocated to all these worthy causes, their contributions would have to be taken up by the general populace.
Which is exactly what happened here when Labour tax rates went through the roof.

except it won't be 75% of what they earn. The high rate proposed also applies to a tiny percentage of the US population and when taxation was as high or higher in the past in the US it didn't have the results you seem fearful of. That is always the hollow threat from the rich - if you take more of my money I will leave. Ok then go. See how you like France - good luck with paying less tax there - maybe try South America - a bastion of stable governments or maybe Japan. If the leaking nuclear plant doesn't get you an NK missile will. I reckon in a stand off you'd be surprised at how many know which side their toast is buttered on and stay put.

I don't know how old you are but what I state will happen, happened in the UK, what you're basing your assumptions
on is hope, it won't work. Their toast will be buttered in dozens of countries, if you tax people at these rates, they
never actually pay it, you're probably referring back to the immediate post war period, when the US was the world's powerhouse,
virtually all the world had suffered and the opportunities were not as available to develop businesses like in the US.
Socialism doesn't, and has never, worked.

errr- I thought under Trump the US is becoming a powerhouse once again. The number of jobs created is huge. What she proposes isn't socialism. Its a change to the tax rates. If, instead, she proposed to let the estimated 18k US citizens this would directly impact ( out of a population of what - over 300m? ) to let them be and instead take $5 per week extra in taxation off every American instead of taking it off the richest would that be fairer? I know you'll claim thats socialism but again its just a change to the tax rates. Taking a little more tax off people isn't this
