Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

I wouldn't feel that way if I were a pilot and the government took control of a private industry and essentially shut it down this eliminating my job. But, I suppose that's a difference between us. You believe the government should have control enough to stop a lawful private insudtry. I do not.

Can you tell me how ensuring economic stability/prosperity for those "unwilling to work" affects the environment?

Govts often shape or close private industries through their actions. Environmental concerns triggered a move away from fossil fuels which has impacted the mining industry in the US. European Govts and diesel. Target to phase out petrol cars by 2040 etc. Out of these actions new technology, new businesses and new wealth can be created. Govt regulation is one of the biggest drivers of innovation and wealth creation.

Thank you for your well reasoned answer. I certainly do appreciate it. While we'll not likely agree 100% on many things, this adds value to the conversation imo.

So chicagoblue and his highly trained pilot coworkers should just shut up and get a job for considerably less money and benefits swinging a pick axe or laying asphalt? Makes sense. A jobs a job.

The suggestion wasn't that pilots would be the only one's affected - hence my response ref job creation - nor are they a special case. Historically many skilled jobs have fallen by the wayside - steam locomotive drivers, steam engineers would have been at the cutting edge and their industry faced massive change why should airline pilots be immune and be in a position which remains the same in perpetuity ? Also it wouldn't mean pilots would all be laid off overnight.

I meant the thank you for telling me what I think. That is more adverserial than informational. It is what I meant.

I read what you wrote. From the information you gave I took that and made an opinion. You said nothing more than people should be happy to lose their job and get another to deal with it. I had little more to go on.

I'm still waiting for you to explain how providing economic stability and or prosperity for those "unwilling to work" fixes any real or perceived environmental disasters.

A) you didn’t say thank you

B) no I didn’t

C) I don’t know why you think I should be explaining why those unwilling to work should be granted economic stability - I’m not arguing that point

You said thank you in a sarcastic manner, not me.

Providing economic stability/prosperity for those "unwilling to work" is part.od the Green New Deal to save the world. It is part and parcel of it.

While I've enjoyed our discussion, we obviously will usually tend to disagree. That is ok though. I've found it entertaining. Hope the rest of your weekend is good.
