After all the euphoria of a 300 million transfer window being suggested on here it's looking a bit more prosaic.

I said that even without Sanchez we have the best attacking players in the PL. Someone pointed out that we are not trying to compete with United, Arsenal, Chelsea at al. Our rivals are Bayern, Madrid and Barca.

In which case Txiki is going to have to up his game. When was the last time we signed a Bale, Neymar, Suarez, Lewandowski calibre player? Probably Kun and that was before Txiki arrived.

Well, we're on the verge of a £200m transfer window, with over 5 weeks of the window remaining. Because "someone pointed out that we are not trying to compete with United, Arsenal, Chelsea at al. Our rivals are Bayern, Madrid and Barca" that means we're failing?! Christ, United are probably the wealthiest club on Earth in terms of what they can and will spend. I despair at some of our fans at times.

Hasn't stopped many players in the past seeing their contract out...he will have insurance for serious injury

well, he could definitely see his contract out but let's be fair - you are talking that possibility only because you don't like eventual outcome of him finishing at Paris. If he gets huge money there, he might just think why no. It's not like he is going to Huddersfield. It's proper city, the club on very much same level as us, arsenal and even bayern on their day. It's good life for him, win-win however you turn it.

you'd say we're skint and buying at league 2 reading some posts here. If we bought some huge star or two for 100 mil. each than people would moan why we haven't buy this or that position. We're loaded but the budget is not unlimited, I doubt we'll buy any superstar this summer if Sanchez fail. He was the closesto to that kind of buy just because he has only one year of contract left.

I wasn't suggesting that I was disappointed, I was just pointing out what was being inferred on here. To be honest I find the inflationary nature of the transfers obscene and wouldn't mind returning to saner times.

I cant understand some of the flapping in here. Even if this is true and you do miss out on Sanchez, it's not make or break. You've got the right back position sorted, the left back will be next, and you've added a top creative player in Silva. You have a guaranteed goal scorer in Aguero, and a potential superstar in Jesus for a full season. Meanwhile we could be about to lose our best player. I know who's position I'd rather be in.
