@shane_burns2 on twitter (footy correspondent) saying a deal has been agreed at £58.5 mill. Not sure on this guy's credibility but thought I'd throw it out there. Sanchez to fly to Manchester in next couple of days to complete medical - will be on 350k per week!

It's a fake account as well

Been so busy withwork this week had no time for anything else. I see this thread has not moved on but Sanchez is trying to pull a sickie or something.

I did see this quote by Wenger and it made me laugh rather properly...

"He adds great value to the squad and I think as well he is a great lover of the club.

"The players have contracts and we expect them to respect their contracts. That's what we want," Wenger explained.

Now Arsene, a lesser man than myself may look at that wording and decide they agree with you fully about Sanchez being a "lover" of your club, some would say he is loving you rather hard with no lube to be quiet honest. That may sound like he is a tosser but you are a proper whiny woman Arsene and deserve having your warped little world getting it's bell rang by reality.

Sanchez will not be getting 350k a week or anywhere near that here. We've worked hard over the last few years to reduce wages and go down the incentive based route giving the likes of Aguero Yaya etc new contracts on less basic wage, there's no way we smash that out of the window now for anybody but Messi. Ever other player that has signed a new contract in the last 3-4 years and every player from there on in will demand something near parity and rightly so. He'll earn a nice wage with potential to earn a shed load more if he helps us to achieve what he allegedly wants to come here for, win trophies.

No, I'm saying all along, that Pep, and all coaches scouts managers everywhere, are making an educated guess.

They don't ' know' at all.

They don't even 'know' if the 11 senior pros they put out will be the right team nor if the 50 mil centre back they sign, will actually succeed let alone being able look at a kid & say for sure whether he can make it, just by watching training sessions.

The only time they find out, for sure, is when the kids play a number of senior games & in some cases, like Pep with Bojan, & Ferguson with several they still get it wrong.

By the way, if you picked the kids who 'hold their own' in training, we would have had about 40 in the last few years, they are fucking good.

Ok, I hear your point that they're making an educated guess, that's all we can hope for. Thing is you came into a conversation about whether we should sign proven pros like Sanchez or blood youth players instead, so I'm reading it in that context. What do you think, we should take the risk?

I don't think we should take the risk. I like the strategy of loaning or selling with buy back clauses. It's a good deal for player and club because City now have the best facilities and really look after young players.

I really disagree that we'd have had 'about 40' youth players graduate into the city first team squad in 'the last few years' if we just played them though. Who are these players who've gone on to make it at other top clubs?
