Looking at Sane, Sterling and Bernardo. I wonder if we really need him anymore? Gabriel and Aguero are in form and unstoppable. So who do you drop?
If we do sign him, how long before the press call him the new Rodney Marsh?!
Not a question of who do we drop. We're looking at a 55 game season. Injuries, suspensions, fatigue, etc etc, will all take their toll and a full squad is a necessity, particularly given that we've only got two strikers at our disposal
Yes. There are precious few in the press old enough to remember the apparent Marsh effect, and the audience for whom they pander don't really 'do' pre-Premier League football. They would instead concoct endless rumours about stars being 'unhappy in Manchester' and 'Guardiola being unable to satisfy so many top players'. To some extent, the pie-in-the-sky "unsettled-Sterling in Arsenal swop" story is but a taste of things to come.
I'm not in the press but I remember the Marsh effect vividly: couldn't get enough enough tickets for his debut game for my Dad to take me and a few school mates to the game to celebrate my birthday. We got a couple from touts but had to resell them and got bowling at Belle Vue instead. At least that was the last time I couldn't get a ticket for a home game: my birthday present was a pair of season tickets for the following season...
Seriously though, Sanchez won't have the Marsh effect if purchased: different situation and buying Sanchez won't alter how City play.
Why can't he sign a pre-contract with us? I haven't seen anything in FIFA regulations to prevent it from happening.Sanchez can't sign a pre-contract with another PL club in January, so I guess it's actually a brainer.
On that note, Sanchez in for Mangala. Why not? It's not beyond Pep hahaSanchez in for yaya,
Think about
It so ridiculous
Its exactly what PEP would do.
Agree 100% with all of that.Exactly.
Also, Sane, Sterling and Jesus are still kids. Their form will go up and down and they will benefit in the long-term from not being overused at this stage in their careers. Who knows what will happen n the future but it is conceivable that a couple of years or so from now, those three will become our first choice front three and be that for several subsequent year.
For now though, if we can get Sanchez in January, we should do.
Really hard to make the case that we were in desperate need of Sanchez on deadline day. I'd say a DM pivot like Weigl, a CB, or even a back-up LB is more of a priority.
Agree LB & Central Defender still areas of concern8
Left back I agree. When Mendy went off it changed our width. Against Palace it didn't matter but could be crucial against tougher teams.
Chelsea next week is the first big test. I'm really interested to see what level we're really at.
The issue is whether he can just switch it back on if we sign him. He may well do but there are no guarantees if he spends 4 or 5 months struggling for form for whatever reason. He looks thoroughly miserable and has done each time he has played. Don't judge him now as he completely wants out and completely wants city
