Alexis Sanchez

I'd prefer to think Sergio is just in a slump and can get back to the levels he hit before because if it is the style of play, we need to get someone else up top. Lewandowski managed a goal a game against the same parked buses, it's not impossible, you don't need to be Messi score bucket loads of goals in a Pep side outscoring our closest rivals in the league by a goal a game.

If Aguero was ghosting through games, not gettinh into positions and being ineffectual it would be more alarming. Missing chances, when putting effor in and getting into goalscoring positions, is just evidence of a slump to me.

Would love Sanchez at City - wanted him since his Udinese days. One of the advantages he brings, is shooting from the edge of the box, which is as effective a tactic against the Bus as any. There's only KDB and Ferna (with the occasional Sané or Sterling worldie) that have a go.

If he plays against Nottingham on Sunday then I can’t see us getting him.

If we are in negotiations for him then he will be left out of the squad altogether.

Wouldn’t mind paying £20-30m given Jesus is injured.

Forgetting his contract situation, he's probably a £80m+ player in todays market, even at £35m it's a bargain. Hope we get him, could be the difference for us, especially in the CL, which is extremely winnable at long last.

So Wenger has that much power over the board that he can tell them 35m or not selling him what about 25m or we wait till the summer

They need a replacement though. I think that more than fee is going to be the stumbling block. I just have a feeling that they've had the old sit down, clear the air with the rest of the squad to say he'll stay until the end of the season.

£25m with a further £10m in add ons if Arsenal win the league in the next 5 years, lets them save face but they'll still only get £25m.

It's not even remotely a bargain when you can get him for free in 6 months - you can't simply forget the contract situation in this instance. The club won't buy him for £35m on this basis - I could see us potentially stretching to £20m, given Jesus' injury, but not a lot over that. Even then, Gabi may be back in a month anyway.

I'd love us to sign him now, but I just cannot see the club agreeing a deal anywhere near some of the numbers being discussed on this thread.

Arsenal are absolutely fucked if they sell him to us this month.

If they miss out on the CL - which they probably will with Sanchez but definitely will without him - then lose Ozil in the summer, I don't see how they can get back in the top 4 for a long, long time . They don't have the team to compete and they don't have the money to close the £75-100m/year CL revenue gap once it opens up.

I hope we get him, but I can only see it happening of Sanchez starts acting out very badly and Wenger just loses his patience and makes a bad decision.

Well we agreed to pay £60m with a year on his contract so £25-30m would work out the same? Forget the fee mate if something happens to Sergio in the next week we have no top class strikers? Add to the fact Sanchez can play the champions league and hopefully FA cup then it’s a no brainer! It’s adding a world class player who knows the manager and the manager knows the mentality he brings to a winning club! Money now in football is irrelevant to be honest (unless we are spending it on Jonny fucking Evans!)

With them missing out on 60m will the board say yep to 25m? If we getting him though we should be pushing for end of this week beginning of next, saying that Pep might think he will be more vital for champs league so end of the window or in the next week Pep probably not that bothered.

I totally agree.

It's irrelevant what a player is going to cost or not at the end of the season. If we need to pay the price now rather than risk losing him to another club in the summer and having a player of his quality now for the CL etc then get it done City!

Pogba was released for 700k and then re-signed for £89 Million. Prices and situations do change.

Put it this way, we're pretty nuch nailed on in January to sign him...leave it until summer at our peril when you can bet every club and his dog will be in for him. PSG, Real...

Correct

To the people saying wait till summer what if Sanchez helped us win champions league in what looks like the one season the big boys are all struggling it's worth the risk
