Alexis Sanchez

Again we have the likes of Sane, Sterling, Gabriel Jesus on our books (along with Kun currently being our main man). If we didn't have any of them on our books then the Sanchez signing would make more sense. Besides that we have a few loanees who can fill the squad spaces

Yes those are the 2 wingers I said...come on it's not that difficult.

We have 2 wingers and trhey've been run into the ground playing every game possible. We need at least one more.

Sanchez will be overkill and all for £290,000 and could really upset the balance of the whole team. Kun goes then Sanchez will make more sense.

Overkill? No it will be quality and depth. The same thing that makes Real Madrid, Bayern and Juventus the best in their countries. Replace Navas & Nolito with 1 world class player, Sanchez.

£290,000? Oh you're just picking random figures out of the air now, I see.

Yes his £600,000 wages might be an issue with some of the other players, but if they're unhappy with him earning £850,000 per week that's their problem.

The arguments seem to come hot-off-the-heels of last night. My feeling is that our performance was top drawer, but that doesn't mean we should be out on Sanchez. Pep alluded to as much in the post-match interview. Cover is needed for injuries, suspensions or just plain old loss of form. Sometimes KDB is off, sometimes it's Aguero, sometimes Sane and often Sterling. Behind them, is a wafer thin bench with little option available, particularly a match-winner who is arguably among the best in the PL like Sanchez.

His 26 goals and 13 assists this season is the best around, by a measure. He's proven at the highest level. He would improve us immeasurably and the issues of "keeping him or others happy" is for Pep to wrestle with. If he wants him, and he wants to come, then we should get him.

I mean, there could be £80-100m difference in price between Sanchez and Mbappe. With as many transfer targets as we have in other positions (GK, 2 LB, CB, 2 RB, DM etc) Sanchez would be the more realistic option by a measure.

How did you reach this conclusion?

Sanchez will not be happy with a squad role.

Navas has played 26 games as a winger and Nolito 30 as a winger this season. That's a total of 2549 minutes, or the equivalent of 29 90 minute games. He'd probably be a bit lukewarm about that kind of game time, but if Pep had a better option than Navas he'd probably have used wingers off the bench more and given Sané and Sterling a rest - plus we'll play more games next season.

So the game time argument doesn't work, not really.

At the end of the day, we can expect 55-60 games a season, and we currently have 2 decent wingers. We need a third.

Roberts may be given a chance ( he will be part of the US summer tour) and would be the cheaper squad option and leaves more money for areas that need immediate attention.

Mbappe will be a world record fee, north of £100m.

It's anyone's guess how much Sanchez will go for, but it's probably in the region of £30-50m.

That's a pretty big difference for one player, I think you'd agree, and the additional spend could handcuff us in other expenditures.
