Disgree. I think it's naive to expect Sterling, Sane, and Silva, three guys who've probably played no more than a handful of games as a striker to step in and score goals if we lose both Kun/Jesus. Also the goal record of those guys isn't anywhere near strong enough to assume that they will be able to step in and fill a serious goal scoring breach.

Seems odd to me to see so many people arguing we don't need Sanchez. I think that's nonsense. I'd go so far as to say right now was are desperate for another top line forward otherwise 1 injury would totally fuck our season. Unless there's a genuine belief that three of Sterling/Sane/Jesus/Kun can play week in and week out without getting burnt out and without losing form.
I'm almost with you, don't think I'm quite as desperate for Sanchez, but I do want him, however -

Is misleading. We could play 352 and then play 2 rest 1. We could play 433 and have Bernardo Silva on the wing to allow us to rest one of the wingers. 1 injury isn't going to make us dependent on 3 players starting every game.

And that's two solutions before even turning to youth or just getting creative with formations.

Realistically we'll be fine at the moment if one of Jesus or Aguero are fit for 90% of the season. The worry is that both have questionable injury histories, and if both were to be injured long term, we'd be fucked.

2 long term injuries would fuck is in any position though, GK, CB especially, Fullback, defensive midfield.
I am not keen on bringing in players who are no stronger than what we have. BS may have an argument that we need cover, but you don't have to spend £50m on a young forward or a Llorente.

We'd be mad to pay £60M for a player with one year on his contract. I think we're strong enough with a choice of Sergio, Jesus, Sterling, Sane, KDB, Silva x 2, Gundogan and Yaya to fill the front 5 or 6 places in the team. That's without taking into account Diaz, Foden and any other youngsters.
Yaya and Gundo will be used in DM. So you missed Fernandinho for those front 6.
That's 10 players for 6 positions.

Last time we won the league: Yaya, Fernandinho, Garcia, Rodwell, Milner, Nasri, Silva, Navas, Negredo, Agüero, Jovetic and Džeko (as well as youngsters Marcos Lopes and Emyr Huws) That's 12. 8 forwards for 4 attacking spots (we have 7 for 5 currently)

In 2011-12: Yaya, Barry, de Jong, Pizarro, Hargreaves, Milner, Nasri, Silva, Johnson, Džeko, Balotelli, Agüero, Tevez (Scapuzzi, Razak, Suarez) that's 13.
Again, 8 forwards for 4 spots.

Not to mention we didn't exactly trouble the CL either of those seasons. We 100% have space for another forward.

we had sterling, silva and Sane on the bench on Saturday. Argubly the best bench in world football. I would like Sanchez bit we're not desperate for him and still should comfortably win the league without him. Never really understand the injury argument. Its like saying if barcelona lose messi and suarez there fucked, any team would be but injuries are just part of the game.
Madrid has the best bench but I agree with your point.

This +1.

It's astonishing how many people still think 11-14 players is enough. We're aiming to win the champions league and the league. Real/ Bayern and until recently Barca had squads of genuine depth, with game changers on the bench. In trouble away at Monaco our bench options were Kelechi, Navas and Nolito.

We need goals, we need something different and we need a forward. Sanchez ticks this boxes.

Arsenal won't sell for 60m. If you are talking 80m then they would be absolutely crazy to not sell.

Couldn't honestly give a shit if we offered 80m with him being in last year of contract, its not my money. He strengthens the squad massively and weakens a rival who will not find a better replacement with the money spent on him.

I say if they reject 60m, tempt them with an offer between 75-80m. If they still reject, walk away from the deal.

Agree Dax that it is an actual out and out dribbler that will go past players with ease....however what i will say is that we have one waiting in the wings in Diaz, for me the soon to be idol once implemented into the first team.
Well if Diaz is that good, then skip the 60 million and lets slowly bring him in instead.

Not gonna lie, when I just tried to come on bluemoon the site crashed temporarily. I was hoping it crashed because there was breaking news that this was done.

The only thing that scares me with this strategy is what happens if there is a significant injury to either Kun or Jesus, then we are left with just one of the them and a bunch of youngsters or other people playing up top when that isn't their natural position. We saw it last year when Pep tried KDB up top, it wasn't a disaster, but he clearly isn't an out and out striker and is much more impactful in his current role.

Did you see our bench on Saturday? And thats without Gundogan. We arguably have more depth than Bayern this season.
