Summer deal then?
You could also say that Chelsea got a younger Eden Hazard for just over £30m that summer, and they didn't win the league. In summer 2012, the rags paid 24 Mil for a 29 year old Robin van Pussy, and they went on to win the league the following season directly thru his contribution. Everyone said then it was a sound investment. I don't see this any different to that deal.

That's the conundrum isn't it? I'd say they both succeeded. You could also say that Chelsea got a younger Eden Hazard for just over £30m that summer, and they didn't win the league.
Which team was better off in the long run and which signing was better value?
The Arsenal " money men" may have less influence if we stick rigidly to significantly below their valuation. This is my view too. But I'm hoping the money men win. And soon :)
Bummer :( I have him in my starting lineup for Sunday :)The Arsenal " money men" may have less influence if we stick rigidly to significantly below their valuation.

We are fine long term. Sometimes you also need short term solutions. You could also say that Chelsea got a younger Eden Hazard for just over £30m that summer, and they didn't win the league.

Oh I agree, Alexis would be an excellent signing. I was just making a point. Sané, Sterling, Jesus, Bernardo, Stones, Mendy, Ederson etc we've been thinking forward for sure.We are fine long term. Sometimes you also need short term solutions.
BenjaniIf he was at the Etihad it would have leaked somewhere , who was the last player to turn up without being spotted ?
Agree entirely. He becomes leass of an asset, to both City & Arsenal, at the end of the season imo.
They can get money for him now, & save his wages but he is likely to be less influential if they keep him & maybe unpopular with team mates, he walks for free in the summer & they could instead maybe bring in a fresh player now to inspire the squad.
We get an extra player now, who could be very influential when we are in 4 competitions & it is actually possible to win all of them, wheras we could sign anybody else we wanted, in the summer, it needn't be Sanchez .
Makes sense to get it done now, for both clubs & the player.
RVP situaution was different as at the time we had four strikers and I believe he wanted to play every game.
He means from Utd's point of view.
Signing RVP was a big move for them, but short term.
