Not really..but you can't help but imagine if the shoe was on the other foot..seems they are still more interested in balancing the books than putting together a team who can challenge for silverware
This summer could have been perfect for them if they had an ambitious board.
1) Replace Wenger with long term coach to rebuild - Tuchel, Favre, maybe - probably could have gotten Jardim from Monaco if they went early enough as it took them a while to renew. Install DoF who's got a history at the club and experience in that role - Bergkamp. This should happen in May.
2) Clear out deadwood as they have done. Gibbs, Gabriel, Sanogo, Szczesny, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wilshere, and add Debuchy, Lucas Perez, Coquelin to that.
3) Tell Sanchez and Ozil to sign or fuck off in July. Ozil signs because no one else wants him, Sanchez goes for 60-70m.
4) Use the 150m you've got from incomings, plus 120-150m of the fable war chest to rebuild, either with marquee signings like Lacazette, or young kids to develop into a title contending team in 2/3 years.
That's what needed to happen. Instead they've re-signed the old fool, left it until deadline day to sell 3 of their key players from last season and have no replacements.
