Alexis Sanchez

The three younger players are going nowhere. Why would they? I suppose that there’s a possibility of Aguero leaving after becoming our all time top scorer and if he does I think it’ll be his decision rather than the clubs. If that’s the case then signing Sanchez makes even more sense,
Obviously given the choice I’d keep Aguero over Sanchez every day of the week. I just have this nagging feeling that Aguero is going to call his City adventure to an end.
Think we will get one more season after this with Aguero......another 20 this season and hopefully 30 ish next and he's cemented in City's history, for a generation at least.

Alexis is putting up insane numbers this season, god dayum. (For those curious about his stats).

He’s getting 5.7 shots, 2.0 inside the box, & 3.7 key passes per 90 minutes. Insane. Shooting on Ronsldo levels, & creating on par with KDB. His overall shot contribution is another level so far. It’ll probably regress, but yeah, he definitely still has it.

These are his stats from the last 2 seasons, pointing out his elite ball-progression, overall expected goals & assists (analyzes the quality of his shots & chances created from open-play).

But yeah, now that he’s fit & getting back into his groove this season. I think it’s safe to say he’ll be outstanding again. Let’s not forget he finally gets rest this summer after so many years & wont be going all out during the international breaks because it’ll just be meaningless friendlies. A clean Sánchez for the rest of 2018 & next season with no summer competition to drag him down. I think I’ll take him tbh.

I find this "don't need him" debate quite exhausting.
A very special player wants to join City below market value and we should say "no thanks"?
Although Pep - highly accepted leading City to new dimensions - is known to be on his way to overhaul the squad by replacing mediocrity by quality.
(He will go on to upgrading the likes of Kompany, Mangala or Yaya soon.)
Forwards Navas, Nolito, Kelechi and Bony have left last summer and in came - none. Who is to cover their minutes played? Over a long season?
Adding to that our new left wingback is out injured for months, leaving Sané (21) uncovered out left. He will be burned out sooner or later this way.

Up to now we have 13 matches played out of a possible 62, the tougher weeks and big games being far ahead.
And still some masterminds can't figure out that those 4 lads up front won't be able to break up hard defending teams all the way?
Pep's got enough experience to be prepared for tougher times. He knows about risk management. He tried to sign Alexis.
He also did work with Alexis at Barca. (btw He knows Alexis isn't a center forward. Sergio is completely off topic here.)

I think many are still unable to think in Pep's dimensions. He is thinking much much bigger.
He wants to dominate more than anybody else. He wants to have huge quality throughout the whole squad and is determined to manage them all, the way he wants to. Including nutrition and all of that controlling stuff. New players will be aware of that.
May I remind of Joe, Nasri or Yaya?

So what's the point?
Alexis is high quality for several years. His Ego has to managed but if someone is able to, it must be Pep.
300k per week (now on 140k) doesn't make sense re City's pay structure. So keep cool there.
Assuming Alexis will play 80% of the matches is pure nonsense. Why should Pep sacrifice Sané's career when he fought hard to get him on board?
It's more about optimizing players' resources, adding competition and experience, and having an incredible bench to win games late.

Don't make a mistake, Pep exactly knows what he is doing. He had to swallow the mistakes from last season. He wants to win the PL and CL with City and he knows it's not a bad thing to have 1 more outstanding option to reach the very top.

I hope Sanchez will join in January.
As well as a LB.

Why would their form drop?

Nothing about Jesus or Sané's careers to date has suggested they're suddenly going to go to shit, and Sterlings got 150 premier league games and about to turn 23, he's ridiculously experienced and not even that young any more.

All players have drops in form. It's about having a squad that can cope with this. Sanchez coming in means players rotate more, keeping them fresh. Sanchez can play the Sane/ Sterling/ Bernard role and the Jesus/ Aguero one. Seeing as KDB is playing a little deeper this season I see a gap in the market. He's cheap, PL ready, not CL tied and nearly world class.

A no brainer.

Which is why I still say no thanks. There's something about him I don't like.

be being greedy but I would just add that I think the squad also needs a CB adding in Jan, as we are an injury to Stones or Otamendi away from a problem

Get Alexis Sanchez...and this squad will be complete bar the cover for Mendy and Delph

We would have a better chance of trying to win the PL and CL
We also need better cover for Ederson and Fernandinho. A bit yet to go in terms of depth.
