Forwards Navas, Nolito, Kelechi and Bony have left last summer and in came - none. Who is to cover their minutes played? Over a long season?

I certainly wake up in cold sweats worrying about how we'll make up for Bony's 0 minutes last season.

Not to mention the vast majority of Navas' game time actually came at RB, so Kyle Walker & Danilo replaced those minutes and 13 games into the season, Bernardo Silva has played 1/3rd of Nolito's minutes in the front line already, so it's more than safe to say he has replaced those minutes.

As for Iheanacho, he played a gigantic 98 minutes last season when Gabriel Jesus was available. The rest of his game time came before Jesus arrived, so in answer to that question...Gabriel Jesus replaced him.

our new left wingback is out injured for months, leaving Sané (21) uncovered out left. He will be burned out sooner or later this way.

Gabriel Jesus has still spent more of his career playing LW than striker, and we are more than capable of resting Sané by playing Jesus-Aguero-Sterling, not to mention Bernardo Silva has himself said he'll play on the left as well as the right.

[Pep] is known to be on his way to overhaul the squad by replacing mediocrity by quality.

OK, so which mediocrity in the current squad is Sanchez going to replace?

Lastly, just because this is hilarious -
(btw He knows Alexis isn't a center forward. Sergio is completely off topic here.)

I think the position that he is in now, as a striker, is perfect for him, it suits him perfectly.

As I said from the beginning, if Pep can keep 5 world class players happy despite sitting on the bench for 40% of the season, than I will be ecstatic to see Sanchez come in, but it's never been done before in the history of the game, so questioning if it's possible is a valid concern.

Two things are definitely wrong in your post though.

1) He is not needed to replace Bony, Nolito, Navas or Kelechi's minutes
2) Guardiola definitely views him as a striker, so Aguero is very much relevant.

Arsenal's key period will be November and early December, when they play ourselves, Spurs, and that lot. Currently sitting fifth, they could go higher, and it could be that Arsenal remain reluctant to let him go in January; if his form in the first half of the season is so good, would they be tempted to lose him in January for a 'negligible' fee, or just keep him in the hope that he replicates it in the spring?

Well explained. If Sanchez is willing to sit in bench and come in as a substitute more often, then I'm all for getting him. The other bonus is that we keep him away from United/Chelsea who improve so much with him in their side.

I doubt Guardiola views him as as striker now. He is more playing in the David Silva role trying to knit the midfield and forward play together.

In the Summer it was a short term move. Now there's no logic behind it other than mis-placed loyalty to a man Guardiola maybe close to

I find this "don't need him" debate quite exhausting.
A very special player wants to join City below market value and we should say "no thanks"?

I suspect when people say we don't need him, what they're really saying is that they're afraid someone else will end up leaving - Aguero specifically. It's an emotional loyalty to a City legend rather than a hard headed analysis, and I can understand that feeling, even if it needn't happen that way.

why would you get rid of aguero though ? probably in the best form of his career this season, works harder then ever. i wouldnt swap him for sanchez. thats not emotion talking.

"Will end up leaving" is not the same as "get rid of" though, is it? Personally, I don't think it's a problem - City had four strikers at one point a couple of years ago - but that's what I suspect the "we don't need him" posts are subconsciously about. Some may come along to tell me that's not the case, and fair enough.

Up to now we have 13 matches played out of a possible 62, the tougher weeks and big games being far ahead.
And still some masterminds can't figure out that those 4 lads up front won't be able to break up hard defending teams all the way?
A very important point. 1/5th of the way through a possible season. We were a seatbelt away from relying on a 21 year old for 4/5ths of our season.

And if Ederson was in a car crash we'd have Bravo in goal for 4/5ths of out season.

And if Fernandinho was in a car crash we'd have Yaya playing every game for 4/5ths of the season.

And if Stones was in a car crash we'd have Mangala playing every game for 4/5ths of the season.

And if Delph was in a car crash we'd have Zinchenko? playing LB every game for 4/5ths of the season.

Relying on Jesus is better than the same situation in pretty much every other area of the squad.
