Obviously a top class player and we are defo short of numbers up top if injuries or loss of form kick in.
But is he the wrong man to bring in? Bit of the old me-me monster going on, arm waving, moaning etc.
How would he cope with a spell on the bench?
Surely one of very biggest pluses this season is that team morale is at an all time high - Rodney Marsh anybody?

Pep having worked with him means he knows what he's getting so I don't see an issue. Arm waving etc is probably because he's stuck in a shit team and doesn't want to be there.

Rodney Marsh is a bit too old now.

While I think we need more cover up front, I am not convinced by his attitude, and may disrupt what is obviously a very good team spirit.

That said Pep knows him, has worked with him before, in Pep we trust.

The Marsh thing was more down to a change in style in the run in to accommodate him, rather than team morale, according to the "Bell, Lee and Sumerbee" video.

We wont be signing Sanchez on a 6 month contract so you have to think ahead and how Foden and Diaz can fit in

yesterday Jesus and Bernardo were on the bench.

He has 1 goal to his name in the league. Just how effective is he in the final third? At what will be 29, and given his past reliance on basic speed, his current season has more relevance than the last.

Guardiola may have some loyalty towards Sanchez, but his first obligation is towards the existing squad and the interests of MCFC, therefore I think he'll change his mind and trust in what he has
Foden & Sanchez are kids who have their whole careers ahead of them, however we need these reinforcements now. Think about the Wolves match. We weren't able to even do what Arsenal did and change all 11 players and retain some level of competitiveness. We've always sought to have 2 teams and be able to rotate and cover without an appreciable drop in performance and adding the likes of Sanchez moves us toward that.

You talk about Sanchez's lack of pace, but have you considered that Gundogan, KDB, D Silva, B Silva, Fernandinho & Toure aren't exactly like shit of a hot shovel in the speed stakes? Sanchez has never been known as a speed merchant and I saw enough yesterday to suggest he has more than enough speed to fit in at City. Sanchez only has 1 goal this season which is fact. However, how many goals do Gundogan, KDB, D Silva, B Silva, Fernandinho & Toure have in a team who have smashed all kinds of records this season so far? By your metric, we should be looking to ship them out because of their lack of goals.

Talking about Sanchez effectiveness in the final third. Have you considered his wanting to move is because he's realised that even at his best he can't elevate Arsenal above fighting for 4th most seasons? Messi is probably the best player there's ever been, but if he was to move to WBA or WHU, would that make them title contenders? One player can make a significant difference, but NOT when you have teams of the strength we have in the Premier League.

Finally, I trust Pep's judgement. Yesterday I imagined Sanchez playing for City and I'm happy to say I was more than happy with what I saw just as City, Arsenal, Juve, PSG & Bayern must. Just because some fans can't see this or share this vision, doesn't make Sanchez to City a Rodney Marsh style error in the making.

I trust Pep's judgement too, but I also feel he may feel some obligation towards the player possibly having given his word we'll go back in for him in January - meanwhile his form demonstrates what was predicted.

Arsenal are a good team, he was able to produce in previous seasons. He was also outstanding at Udinese. Just as Rooney as a kid was outstanding at Everton, and for England early on. Likewise Sane, KDB, Silva etc.

I agree with you about the pace. He's caught in two roles at the moment. He started out as a wide forward, and then played more centrally at times and got a lot of goals. Now he's playing much deeper and trying to drive the play. The speed is important if he's playing up front, less so if he's playing in midfield. Most people are considering Sanchez as a forward, but it's not clear what his best position is now. I would say where he played 2nd half for Arsenal which is deep in a free role

The problem in regards to this signing is that he's not that effective as a wide forward. Rashford is outscoring him. And as an attacking midfielder we have enough options.

I'm very much in this school of thought.

He gives us a strong option to rest up key attacking players, and given we are looking at something like a 70 game season, we do run a high risk of fatigue, injury and burn-out.
It's about what his signing does mentally for our opponents.

Sane and Sterling can't and won't be relied upon for much longer, both are neglecting some fundamentals which only come with the youth and rawness they possess.

We are not playing under pressure at present, which is when players and personalities such as Sanchez will be needed, outside of injuries to Kun or Jesus.
I very much agree with these sentiments. I honestly believe that the vast improvement in Sterling's application is because he's aware that we're looking to bring in reinforcements, so his first choice place will be under serious threat.

For £20m - £30m for Sanchez or even Sanchez on a free, we'd be mad not to be in the shake up. As @tolmie's hairdoo has just iterated, the feeling of dejection this will add to our opponents can't be underestimated. EVERY opposition fan I know were shitting themselves at the prospect of Sanchez to City. After our start to the season, can you imagine how much worse they'd be feeling if we added Sanchez to our ranks just in time for the business end of the season?

There's a reason for this. Just imagine yesterday's match and on 60 minutes, D Silva, Sterling & KDB, were being hauled off to be replaced by B Silva, Gundogan and Sanchez. I'll never forget watching a Barca match where they were smashing a domestic rival and Sanchez, Iniesta and Pedro were limbering up to come on. The camera's focussed on one of the opposition players throwing his hands up whilst rolling is eyeballs as if to say WTF!

THIS is the effect adding the likes of Sanchez to our ranks will have on our opponents. We're Manchester City Football Club and we know EXACTLY how this feels after years of watching ManUre, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool do this to us. Why would we want to miss the opportunity to strengthen our squad and give our direct opponents the same feelings of doom before a ball was kicked that they dished out to us for decades?
