I know Sterling has improved this season but Pep is a hard taskmaster and his 2 1st half fuck ups won't have gone down well, his reaction to the pass says it all.

Yes Sterling has 10 goals but they are chances Sanchez would score as well.

I get the feeling Pep will really want him in Jan and the only thing stopping a move from happening would be how much a LB (and maybe a CB) sets us back.

Signing Sanchez isn't the end of Sterling, Sanchez is 29 whilst Sterling is 22, it would give us a more proven player for the next 2 years whilst Sterling, continuing to get games, improves further
This

He will come hopefully and take Sterling's role - plenty of opportunities for Sterling with rotation and with his age.

Sanchez coming means so much not just in the premier, but particularly in the CL - Pep will fancy our chances this year

Brilliant Post!

It sums up the situation perfectly. If Sterling or Sane get injured for any length of time, we're back to trying to fit square pegs in round holes, and we've seen where that's gotten us in our not too distance past.

I was there the day Rodney Marsh made his debut and before the game I believed big Mal that we needed our own version of George Best.

Then I realised the flair was just for himself.

We saw first hand on Sunday that Sanchez is a team player in a way Rodney Marsh never was !

We need Sanchez. Big Mal was wrong, we never needed Marsh.

Please get him signed up in January!!

And you’re not worrying about him losing a yard of pace at all, like Messi has?

Sanchez is a class player and for the price that he would be available for in january its a no brainer. As many have said the team currently has four players occupying three positions, bernardo can be added to the list but doesn't offer the same kind of threat or intensity of play that the others bring, not yet anyways. With sanchez you get a top player to add to four already top players meaning there will be no drop off in quality in attack when it gets to the final stages of the season where rotation is necessary to keep players fresh and competitive on all fronts.

That said there seems to be this idea that he will be coming in to take someone's place the most likely candidate for many here seem to be sterling. There still seems to be this believe that sterling is some weak-link in the attack and is only scoring easy chances that anyone will score in this team therefore he can be easily replaced. Now sanchez is a technically better player than sterling on the ball at least but tactically I don't think he's better and I would even argue sterling is a more positionally and tactically disciplined player than he is and that is the most important thing for pep.

The thing is the team is currently playing this well because pep has devised a system that gets the best off each player and the team as a whole and requires incredible tactical and positional discipline for it to be most effective. No one player is bigger than the system for pep in this team and was a reason why jesus was ahead of aguero in stretches last season because he wasn't playing for the system despite his obvious abilities. Sterling is one the best system players in football because of how tactically intelligent he is and is a main reason why he's scored ten goals this season. Not that sanchez is not the same far from it but he like hazard tends to be a player who prefers to be at the heart of moves and involved in all facets of build up play. He likes to come deep to get the ball, rarely stays in his position on the field and is a player who thrives if you build a team around as he can create something on his own out of nothing but if asked to be a system player who is tasked to trust in his teammates ability and be disciplined in his positional play, he's not nearly as effective.

So this believe that he can replace sterling and offer what he does or more in this team doesn't make sense to me. He is a different type of player and not one to hug the line and occupy the full backs or offer an outlet for breaks. Most of his play relies on him having the ball to his feet compared to sterling who's most of his threat is from when he doesn't have the ball in his positional play and movement. Having sanchez as well as sterling, sane, jesus will mean you have players who offer a variety of things in the game and will all be rotated to keep each other fresh and motivated not that one will replace the other in the team

Bernardo has started 3 or 4 league games and as you say has not been as effective as the other 4 to date, but if we are struggling to give a player of that standard game time, we don't need another.

No one seems to be addressing Sanchez's current form. It does not warrant a place in City's team.

Might not be that meaningful but I noted the following quote from the Chairman: "The ongoing development of Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz in particular, continues to be encouraging and our commitment to nurture our own talent remains a central pillar for the Club’s long-term sustainability"

Can't believe some people wouldn't have Sanchez even if free. Yes we have options up front but basically Sterling and Sane are wide players, Jesus is a goal poacher and Aguero is a focal point. Three of these, remember, are kids and still learning the game, and the most likely back up, Bernardo, is new to the league also. On the other hand, the versatility, quality and experience of Sanchez gives Pep the chance to rotate our attack players without changing the formation of the team and this is of the utmost importance in a season which could exceed 60 club games plus the useless participation of players in International fixtures. Get him signed.

Sterling, Jesus, Sane are top class players who are putting Sanchez is the shade at the moment. Think about the league table, and the number of goals City have scored and compare it to Arsenal and Sanchez
