The league is ours already, therefore, I don't think we need to splash 50 mil on a player who will be available for free in the summer. Mendy is out until April/May which means we won't play 3-5-2 until Mendy is fit again. As we are playing 4-3-3 now, there is no urgency in spending 50 mil because this system requires only one recognized striker. Sanchez is world class and would improve us but it would be wise to save those 50mil and spend them to buy a world class defender.
will be nothing like 50m

Can't find anything about same league transfer apart from football manager forum posts

Gone quiet on that one.

When you actually look for details in this kind of thing, it is notoriously sketchy. If you look up loan regulations & whether it counts toward a players eligibility as 'home grown' for example it's really difficult.

There is a section in the FA rules which might cover this pre contract business, which is worded in such a way that it suggests that a club has the right to 'offer' a player over 24 a new contract, when the present one runs out & then, on receipt of that offer, the player has 28 days to accept, if the offer is rejected, 'the player is immediately free to negotiate with another club'.

So it could perhaps be, that is the FA rule here, wheras the rule for other counties follows Bosman.

Hence, if you want to play here, you have to abide by the FA rule.

That's the best I can come up with.

Repeating 50m three times doesn't make it any more accurate.

I just can’t see Wenger doing a deal in January. I think if we could do a deal for 25-30 million most clubs would bite our hand off but this is Arsenal and Wenger. He thinks he will gain the respect of the fans by stringing us along and hoping that either PSG make an offer or he can convince Sanchez to stay. He’s already shown that he has a lack of respect for City - any decision to sell in January would be as a result of pressure from the Arsenal board.

I personally think Bernardo would welcome Sanchez, as you say he's currently being used to fill in for Sterling and Sane but with Sanchez's arrival he'd be utilised as rotation with Spanish Dave and KDB where I think his game is best suited. Those that think he's too lightweight and slow for this position please don't write him off just yet. Spanish Dave is obviously irreplaceable but cast your minds back when he first arrived in the Premier League everyone was saying the same about him and given time he transformed into the player he is now.

Yes I agree, not to write Bernardo off in that role, but if you look at what Pep has done with DS, look at Bernardo, then look at Sanchez, if Pep wanted to 'convert' another player to be an option there, I would suggest that, apart from his habit of trying a few too many 'glory' passes, Sanchez could play there tomorrow & would actually be physically stronger than DS. It's purely down to whether he is smart enough to keep possession a bit more. He can tackle & hunt down, just as well as DS or KDB, no problem.

Not everyone. I can honestly claim to have wanted Dave at City before we were linked with him and to have never fallen into the too lightweight trap.

I think Bernie might benefit from working on his upper body strength but I'm sure there's a balance to be struck. I do think we need to be able to rotate KDB and Dave out more...

I've wanted Sanchez all along; I wanted him when he left Barca. Getting him now would have far more positives than negatives; although getting him in the summer without paying Arsenal a dime would be sweet. However, the right couple of signings in this window could help City ice the cake and add a cherry on top.

I think one of the beauties of Sanchez, if we can eventually get him, is that he can play anywhere across the front line but also drop a little deeper and cover one of the positions Dave and Kev own. I don't think that should be hugely to the detriment of Bernie, who has time on his side to build a long fruitful City career. If Pep can rotate more and vary things more without a drop in quality, players like Bernie and Gundo may benefit from having Sanchez here.

Possibly, & BS is such a talented player, but when Sane came on v Newcastle, imo there was suddenly a feeling that Newcastle were in iminent peril, if they lost the ball, which isn't there when BS plays & tbf, imo wasn't there whe Silva & Nasri played either, great as they were. We strike terror into opponents now.

Imo Sterling & Sane are now a blueprint for footballing terror which Pep has discovered through trying different options, & much as I love DS, if he was playing in place of Sterling or Sane, (assuming both are on form) I'd say we were a 'weaker' team, than with those two in it. Not necessarily so, with Sanchez up there, as he can still go direct like Raheem & Leroy do. But Bernardo, DS, even KDB, in a front 3 position, is now usually a step down in attack imo.

Of course that can change with the incessant bus parking negating their pace, but even then both Raheem & Leroy tend to shoot & run in behind more too.

As it stands, Sanchez would be a great alternative to either, or to Jesus/Aguero, but if Pep decides he can play as an alternative to DS & KDB, I think both Bernardo & Gundogan may have a problem.

Don't forget, Pep wanted both Sanchez & Mbappe. Maybe the idea wasn't for both to play in the front 3.
