Alexis Sanchez

Up until today, we had absolutely no intention of signing Sanchez next month.

Things might now well change after Jesus' injury, but City were pretty clear in a brief over Christmas that a deal was very unlikely and were willing to now wait until the summer.

All I am suggesting at present is that Alves was also set for City until Paris came late to the party.

Paris didn't come late to the party...Neymar did.

The goal of the 4th place is the important thing for Arsene, in January Alexis can play 4 games, then when the transfers close they have games against us, Everton, Spurs, and the Rags; being honest I do not think they can take advantage of any of them; it is impossible with the irregularity of Ozil and Alexis not motivated (and that defense).

They should let him go anyway they're going to lose Alexis at the end of the season, even with RVP they got some money! You imagine if they can not classify CL, Sanchez leaves without leaving any money, Ozil leaves the club, and they can not sign Lemar or a replacement for Ozil.

LOL.

The market at the moment has a lot of inflation, a fairly decent replacement will cost at least 70m. They should think more seriously.

The jesus new was good I thought. Suggestive of 6-8 week absence? I doubt we'd change tack on Sanchez on the basis of 2-3 weeks football (the time between doing a deal, and jesus returning). I can't see the sense in buying a 29 year old for the next 3 seasons to cover a short term injury when we could cherry pick the very best talent in world football when the moment arrives. be patient and we can land a top striker that will seal our dominance of English football for the next 4-5 years.

If I were Arsenal, I'd go for Mahrez - one of the best wide forwards in the Premier League and an upgrade on Sanchez in my opinion. I keep thinking there must be some good reason why no one has moved for Mahrez. He wants out, and he opens up defences. Players like that are priceless. Not much point for City as we already have wide forwards but I think he could finally move this window.

The Jesus injury puts a whole new complexion on the deal. It's gotta be buy! I think the Arse would have stood on ceremony and let him go at the end of the season, but their cockney eyes might glint if another thirty pieces of silver were put on the table.
The Jesus injury should have had no bearing on getting Sanchez this month.

How many times has it been said we won't go a season without major injuries affecting us, & in the space of a week we've lost Kompany, Silva, KDB, Delph & Jesus, with Stones & Mendy being out too.

Pep & Txiki have always believed that prevention is better than having to find a cure. Luckily for us, this has happened at the beginning of January, however these injuries have made the financial ball swing firmly back in Arsenal's court, because Arsenal will now know we're short on cover.

So where are the lads insisting our forward department is overloaded?

Where are the lads teaching us Foden and Diaz are ready to step in against those butcher teams?

Where are the lads suggesting Bernardo is a great winger right and left?

And hey, even KDB could play a false 9?

So nothing really changed then, when just 1 striker is out for whatever weeks.

Rotation is utter nonsense anyway and makes players unhappy.

Sergio, Sané and Raz will be very happy men for weeks to come then.

Get Sanchez in for free in summer. No matter if Sanchez is being hung up for dry!
Agreed 100%

Hello @Marvin.

Pleasantries over! I see you STILL don't see the reason Pep wants Sanchez. It would be easier all round if you just admitted you don't like the player, as opposed to posing your tepid excuses to underpin your poor PERSONAL OPINION of him, which has no basis in fact.

Alexis is a great player but I'm not sure he can replace Jesus. He did play that position last year with Arsenal, but he wasn't very good, and that's why they got Lacazette. Guardiola had never played him there at Barca either. I would rather sign someone else. I think Iheanacho could have helped if he had stayed.

You posting these foreign language versions all of a sudden has a real New Year's resolution feel to it ;)

I don't know if this has been discussed but Pep apparently said that Alexis is an Arsenal player and will probably remain one.
