Sanchez could be the difference between a good season and a great season. The striking positions is the only one we lack real depth, and he fits perfectly into how we play, comfortable anywhere in a front 3, all action style suiting the pressing game, scores and creates chances. He's really the last piece. Against Bristol City, we created the chances, but were let down in the final third. I wouldn't worry too much about his age either. Van Persie was older when he joined United that season, and look at the impact he had. If we get 3 good seasons out of him, then brilliant.

Far more at risk of an injury to Fernandinho IMO. We have lots of players capable of contributing goals, but no one else who can replace him in midfield.

Hang on, hang on! Where did all this Aguero leaving talk come from, what's going on there? He's banging them in for fun at the moment! .. and isn't this the Sanchez thread anyway?

That's the city-fan psychology: we get positive news (Sanchez looking likely) and we immediately add something negative to the equation. Life can't be all good, can it?
Oh, and I'm sure Pep is getting tired of life in Manchester and the rumor has it, that the good sheikh is getting bored with us.

Brilliant, made me chuckle anyway :-)

Not sure why people say sign him for free in june ?
Isnt it £30m to arsenal in January or
£30m to Sanchez back pocket in june ?
If we have made up our minds hes the one may as well get it done

I think Sanchez performance in the current City team, playing under a coach he clearly wants to reconnect with, will be vastly different to the Sanchez performing in an ordinary Arsenal side, where he no longer wants to be, under a manager he clearly doesn’t respect.
My hope is that Pep has a different role for him in mind. Maybe a deep midfield role which could use his passing and industry?

His passing/ball retention is really not very good. I think finishing is his best asset, but this forum will implode if he comes and people realise that he's not nearly as good on the ball as Silva or KDB.

You could be on to something there as he looked knackered last night doing the high press striker role and was only on for 30 mins.

His off the ball movement and pressing has always been Pep's concern with him. He's made strides but it's gonna be difficult to change his mindset at his age. I'm certain that he'll still keep banging it in if he continues to play for us but I can see why Pep's infatuated with Gabriel Jesus. My hope is we get a 100m+ fee for him then use the money to sign someone like Timo Werner or Kane.
Kane is a top striker but if Pep has concerns over Sergio's movement and pressing, I'm thinking he probably won't be looking to replace him with Kane.
