My hope is that Pep has a different role for him in mind. Maybe a deep midfield role which could use his passing and industry?

Not sure his passing is that great really. He does give it away a lot.
He does try things though and makes things happen doesn't he. He definitely will bring something different to us though.
I see him rotating with Sane and Sterling, not Jesus and Kun as people seem to think.

Marvin dont get your hopes up.

Not a chance he plays in a deep midfield role.

His passing/ball retention is really not very good. I think finishing is his best asset, but this forum will implode if he comes and people realise that he's not nearly as good on the ball as Silva or KDB.

He’d be the best dribbler in our squad, but yes you’re right, his passing has always looked poor to me

You could be on to something there as he looked knackered last night doing the high press striker role and was only on for 30 mins.
In the league game against Chelsea he was exhausted by half time. Ran himself into the ground. I don't accept all these comments from blues who think he's playing way below potential. He's giving everything as he always does. That is one of the aspects to his game that I used to love so much: every game was a Cup Final for him.

i am expecting him to play as a centre forward, but hoping Pep has some leftfield plan for him. He does have a lot of outstanding attributes .

Hopefully....

Willing to hijack Brazilian winger/forward Malcom's possible move to Tottenham, Arsenal management, according to latest rumours, are meeting Bordeaux rising star's entourage today. Turning 21 next February 26, the player might be still signed over this winter, on an about 45 million euros exit fee.

He's not a centre forward either. He can play there needs be but it won't be his primary position. He'll join Sane and Sterling in the 3 of them sharing the 2 wide forward positions.

Alexis loses the ball 9 times out of 10 when he dribbles which is why Pep either has to play him as an out and out striker or play him deeper and use his passing range.

He'll last 5 mins as a wide forward. It's how he plays now at Arsenal but it's a disaster. He just loses the ball continually for Arsenal and holds their play up. That would drive Pep mad, but he must see a role for him. I hope Pep is being blinded here by his love for his former player.

Sounds legit.

Just for clarity I was just talking about the Bristol game Sterlings lack of movement and the need for Sanchez , so it's not to be confused with the Jonny Evans or any other defender we may be after.
The message I received although slightly cryptic was it's happening and it was happening as we speak
