Alexis Sanchez

Maybe as a club we feel we are now in a stronger position to play hard ball with both players and clubs than we used to be?

And as I have stated earlier, if Sanchez has told us that he only wants City, even if it means that he has to stay at Arsenal until the summer, City standing firm is 100% the correct play. What will be difficult to stomach is City playing hard ball and he ends up in a United shirt.

I get where youre coming from but unfortunately I couldn't really care less
I won't lose sleep at night from the cash Sanchez agent is making when he is skipping past phil jones in May

I will lose sleep when United turn up at the Etihad with Sanchez and Pogba running at us, so.. meh
You mean when they are down by two with 11 men behind the ball and pogba and Sanchez are playing on the counter....yea not worried about it

Jose is the reason he has suffered. Just a chalk and cheese match.

Bundesliga player of the season when the signed him and was absolutely mint at Dortmund.

At Arsenal he will thrive under the football they play.

He would look great in this City team
.
Give it a couple of years then!

Tolmie, surely we are not sticking just on £10 million or so. It has to be the extras being talked about that they are quite rightly refusing to consider. That makes sense. Losing him to United for a stand over £10 million (when we offered £40 million more in August) would not make sense.
£10m on this and every transfer in the future, look at the money those gimps had to pay for Lukaku in the summer.

Its clear that Alexis' agent's demands are going up big time in the summer.

Maybe no transfer fee will have to be paid that time to any club but huge agent fee and signing on fee bonus will be doubled or tripled compared to now. And they can really drag it out the whole summer making an even bigger saga around it.

So we may save 20-25m transfer fee in 6 months but you really think that amount not going to turn into higher wages/bonus/singing on fee/agents fee?

In all honesty we hold all the cards here. If he comes great, if he goes to United it doesn’t matter, we are still the better team and instead of paying for a 29 year old I’m sure we will just go after the next Sanchez who is 24. Not saying I wouldn’t want him just speaking the truth.

This is the way everyone looking at this situation with clear eyes should feel. It's just a matter of so many City fans not wanting to listen to rags chortling about getting over on City, especially (probably) after having chortled themselves about getting Sanchez with those same rags.

A strange time to take a stand though? I mean we've been bent over and royally shafted for such greats as Bony and Mangala but we've decided that Sanchez is the player where we say enough is enough.

This isn't us suddenly deciding to take a stand. If part of the hold up is genuinely to do with agents fees then I think we've been pretty consistent on that through the years e.g Hazard, Pogba etc

If united are willing to do a deal worth £75m then I don't believe that represents good business so you just have to let them get on with it. The flip side of that is that I don't really think United have a cohesive transfer strategy and this would be further evidence of that. Smacks of opportunism rather than a thought out plan and would probably rule them out of going for another high profile attacking marquee signing in the summer.

I think City seem to feel pretty relaxed about this and will probably have other suitable targets for the summer if this doesn't come off.

Ultimately, if Sanchez wants us and is keen to win as much as possible in his last few years at the top, then United's interest should be irrelevant. He can force a move.to us if he wants to, so if he decides to go and play for mourinho then you have to question his ambition really. Would like him here but not at all costs.

I understand Sanchez is a world class player, but I'm glad the club appear to be sticking to their guns that we will not be held ransom for a player who is out of contract and wants to come to us in the summer. If we don't agree the deal and he'd rather go to the rags so that he gets out of Arsenal a few months early then so be it, but that seems a bit of a weak mentality to have, especially having already played there for half of the season.

Feels like my head's gonna explode if I read another "would be a shame if we lost him over 10 million". IT'S NOT A DIFFERENCE OF 10 MILLION FFS. Difference between proposed and expected wages, agent fees and signing on fee - it could all potentially be a difference of 50 fucking million. For an out of contract 29 year old player. Do you fucks realize that we can just spend 50-60 million on a 21-22 yr old player in the summer who probably has a higher ceiling than Sanchez and is not a greedy whore?
