Alexis Sanchez

In all honesty we hold all the cards here. If he comes great, if he goes to United it doesn’t matter, we are still the better team and instead of paying for a 29 year old I’m sure we will just go after the next Sanchez who is 24. Not saying I wouldn’t want him just speaking the truth.

He had a storming season last year and they finished 5th. One player won't make that much difference to anyone as we have found in the past. It's the team that matters and that's where we hold the edge

Hope this is just City calling Arsenal's bluff. Still feel like getting Sanchez could be the difference between a very good season and an exceptional one.

It does seem as though Soriano has made this very personal after last summer.

We know Sanchez agent just being prudent seeing what else might be out there, just in case his client can't bare to wait it out.

He wants Pep, and that's the only leverage we still have.

Personally I wish we'd just pay what it takes to get him. It'd be a great boost to a thin squad and could provide real impetus mid season to go on and win 2, 3 or even all four trophies. It would certainly strengthen us and provide a different option if we're struggling to break down a defensive team.

In my opinion it would also look poor in the general image of the club and PR wise if Utd signed him, as we've been after him since summer. If he went there instead, although the reality would be we didn't feel he was worth it, the media would spin it he snubbed us for 'the biggest club in England' and that they had got one over on us. However many people on here couldn't give a shit about that, image matters in this day and age, especially when we're trying to increase our commercial pull and standing in the game against the old school 'big 4' and established European giants.

To me, it'd be very disappointing and short-sighted if we allowed this one to get away. Not sure if actually true but didn't we miss out on Hazard over a £5m agent fee? How good would he have been in a Pep team!? Then again, that might be bollocks spun in the media, but either way we were close. Let's not give those bastards at the swamp any glimmer of hope or potential to gloat. I've had enough of gloating rag twats to last a lifetime.

Come on City, get Alexis signed!

Are we all THAT arsed if he doesn't come? i'm not.

Also find it interesting that this is all coming out after we find out Jesus is back in 2 weeks.

Couldn’t agree more, a sensible move would surely be 20 mill plus add ons for each possible trophy, if he helps us win the champs league for example then paying add ons would be a chq I’d willingly write.

That applies in some cases but not here. £30 million is a great deal for a player we offered £60 million for 5 months ago. Nobody will see that as overpaying.

The bonuses and salaries being referred to are a completely different matter.

And a stand on them exactly right
.
It's less to do with overpaying and more to do with sticking to a valuation and not panicking.

Agree with the highlighted part, we pay Sanchez £400k a week and Kev is well within his rights to ask for £500k a week.

Disagree. Trophies are more or less guaranteed with us, in five months he could have 3.
