One of the biggest, if not the biggest factor in our success so far this season has been the team spirit and togetherness. Bringing in Sánchez on £350k a week would smash that to pieces.

How do you explain to De Bruyne who has been the best player in world football this last 12 months that a sulky prick who has downed tools for a while at Arsenal deserves a higher salary? You can’t.

How do you explain to Aguero who has worked his socks off to improve as an all round player and adapted to a different style of play and become our highest ever scorer that Sánchez is now suddenly first choice? You can’t.

How do you explain to Silva who has been in my eyes our best player ever, is our captain (in Kompany’s lengthy absence) and plays with injuries and during extremely difficult family circumstances that Sánchez is more valued than him? You can’t.

If Sánchez wants to come and integrate into the squad, within the wage structure we have in place and prove to the players that have got us 12 points clear at the top of the league that he’s going to give everything he’s got to help us improve even more then great. That however is not seemingly the case.

Also-effing-lutely.

That was yesterday before it was announced we’d dropped out interest
The thing is we haven't dropped our interest

We have left the door open to the deal going through at what we agreed, meaning the ball is in Sanchez court if you want to play for Pep you know what we are offering take it or leave it
Arsenal are pushing for a higher fee and if we are to believe the reports Utd have offered £35mil so it's also in there interests to push him to them.....it doesn't mean he will end up there....there's still to many variables for this to be just done and dusted to any one

I wouldn't be surprised if this went to the wire and or he stays at Arsenal until the summer

Nail on the head

I simply don't believe it's over yet for reasons I've outlined.

For instance, when Rooney supposedly handed in a transfer request, the papers were saying that we'd offered him £250k a week. My understanding however is that his agent was fishing for an offer in order to get him a pay rise at OT. City were approached, along with another club, but (according to my source) were a bit suspicious and said that they might well be interested but would need firm evidence of his desire to leave the rags before they'd talk numbers. In other words, a written, unequivocal transfer request. That was never forthcoming but fortunately for Paul Stretford, the other club did put a firm offer on the table. Gill & Ferguson then promptly plonked that offer in front of the previously recalcitrant Glazers and they beat it. City meanwhile, weren't going to deny there wasn't actually a bumper offer from them in play as they were quite happy to see the rags squirm and wriggle, plus they knew that if Rooney got a deal, it would move the rags' whole wage bill up significantly (which it did) and potentially restrict their ability to compete.

Do you not find it a bit odd that the rags are seemingly happy to pay whatever's been asked but insist on the deal including a player who doesn't want to go the other way and would presumably have to take a pay cut to do so?

You make a great point and it appears Micky T would also need to get a bumper deal at le arse and a payout from rags in order to move...maybe he wants the mythical ‘loyalty bonus’ If he moves.

I understand your point however market forces mean wages and transfer fees dont stay still very long.
The reality is that if you want the highest quality then you have to stump up the cash and move with the market (whatever the market demands). If you don't then you will not get the best players and be left behind. That's the reality.
In the summer the world's best players will be asking the same salaries. Are we going to meet the market or go bargain hunting ? That's what interest me because we refused VVD's transfer fee and are doing the same for Sanchez. This is not a good sign

Wages are never in isolation, do you think for one second that KDB agent won't bring up the Sánchez wage when he is looking for a new contract? What has blown the transfer market over the last 2 years are Pogba to united and Neymar to PSG, yes we weren't directly involved in either but they will DIRECTLY impact us moving forward.

So is Sanchez to the rags down to Mikkywhatever his fucking name going to Arsenal, where he doesn't want to go, or is there a cash only deal as well?

Do you think that we have simply drawn a financial line in the sand for the deal if City are involved ? Our business plan has worked well to date so why change its hard fought for equilibrium.

Our existing players seem happy to stay by signing new wages deals and the ultimate cost to these deals would probably cause a too expensive premature re negotiation of most.
Great player but not at the expense of unsettling our pay structure seems to be the meaning.
The message to Sanchez and his agent appears to be if you want to join City and share in our potential trophy successes understand this, otherwise get what you can where you can and good luck to you.
