Alexis Sanchez

One of the biggest, if not the biggest factor in our success so far this season has been the team spirit and togetherness. Bringing in Sánchez on £350k a week would smash that to pieces.

How do you explain to De Bruyne who has been the best player in world football this last 12 months that a sulky prick who has downed tools for a while at Arsenal deserves a higher salary? You can’t.

How do you explain to Aguero who has worked his socks off to improve as an all round player and adapted to a different style of play and become our highest ever scorer that Sánchez is now suddenly first choice? You can’t.

How do you explain to Silva who has been in my eyes our best player ever, is our captain (in Kompany’s lengthy absence) and plays with injuries and during extremely difficult family circumstances that Sánchez is more valued than him? You can’t.

If Sánchez wants to come and integrate into the squad, within the wage structure we have in place and prove to the players that have got us 12 points clear at the top of the league that he’s going to give everything he’s got to help us improve even more then great. That however is not seemingly the case.

We have a winner.. give this guy a cocunut! Excellent post!

This is exactly my view on it. Catapulting in a player as the highest earner over the players who have got us into such a fantastic position doesn't sit well with me.

Tbf the Delph one was pretty funny.

He must be counting his lucky stars every day since he did that U/U-turn when you look where Villa are now and the games he's getting here(due to Mendy's injury I know but...), and playing so well also, in a record season. He's more than proved his worth for us, even if it might mean fewer games when Mendy's back. Keep forgetting he's a midfielder.

A lot of comments about resale value on relation to Sanchez. I get it when trying to place a value on a transfer fee, which look more arbitrary by the day, but when do we bother about sell on fees? Our model seems to be placing a value on a player for what they can do for us over their time with us, not what we can claw back at the end of it.

If we'd have been worried about resale, we would have sold certain players years ago. It's more likely that those players (Silva, Aguero, Yaya....Zab who's already gone) will be allowed to leave for free or retire at the club. The value should be what they can bring to the team over the length of the contract we award them, not what we can get at the end of it.

Having said that, I think Sanchez would be too expensive over the length of contract we'd award him if the figures banded about are correct.

Wages are never in isolation, do you think for one second that KDB agent won't bring up the Sánchez wage when he is looking for a new contract? What has blown the transfer market over the last 2 years are Pogba to united and Neymar to PSG, yes we weren't directly involved in either but they will DIRECTLY impact us moving forward.

Correct. Can we compete with Madrid Barca and Rags for the best players. If we cant it will catch up with us.

I don't think it will be THAT big of a problem. KDB and Sergio are not exactly earning £50k a week lets not forget and it is very likely some of these guys will already be earning something quite close to what Sanchez could potentially earn.

I still think that if the opportunity was there and Sanchez was offered £250k a week to come here with our usual trophy related bonuses or the £450k a week to go to United he would still pick us. It isn't down to money, the problem is he wants to leave in January and currently Arsenal won't accept the £20m we are prepared to pay so he has no option.

If the player swap element falls through then it could get very interesting. Arsenal have to consider Ozil as well, they can't afford to lose 2 top class players so if the player swap falls through then it will be wide open again. This is why Chelsea are getting involved, there is a big window for a very cheap quality player if United's deal fails.

For the best players? Pogba, Lukaku and Sanchez are not in the elite catagory of players like Neymar, Messi, Suarez, De Bruyne, Hazard, Kroos etc. but are commanding wages that suggest they are the best players in the world. Someone said yesterday but you can argue Silva, De Bruyne and Aguero are all BETTER than Sanchez so do we offer the 3 of them £400k a week as well?

Well that's the $100,000,000 question(actually these days 3 times that!), it seems to me there has been a subtle shift in our transfer policy we are no longer looking to compete at the very top table(with the PSG Madrid Barca and uniteds of this world). What has masked this is the exceptional season we are having and the fact that a couple of those guys that were just below the radar of the previously mentioned clubs have paid off in a major way.
