It is rather clear he does want out now, all that is left is a transfer request. Five years ago he may have felt he can take a year away from the cl but he is at or coming into his peak now. Nobody could really hold it against a top level player for wanting cl footy in those years.

I dont think Sanchez has that option if he wants us, he either gets himself out now or we go for plan b and the position isn't available next summer.
If we can't get Sanchez now it leaves us with 4 players for 3 positions, we won't go into next season with that.

That's the point isn't it. He either pushes for a move this summer or probably goes somewhere else next summer. Putting in a transfer request will lose him his bonus though and players (well actually their agents) don't like that.
