Arsenal don't really have a choice now. He wants to go, and can go for free in 12 months. When they think about it from a purely business point of view taking all emotion out of it, they really have only one option. And if ever there was a club run as a business before a football club, its Arsenal. He will leave them the minute they move away from the denial and anger phases into the acceptance phase.

Will Vinegar Face ever reach the acceptance phase though?
tbh, with only 1 year left we should only be offering half of what we are anyway

If he is pushing for a move here he is actually behaving a lot better towards Arsenal by doing it at a time they can get a decent fee than Sol Campbell did when he left Spurs.

They can ask for £70m. They won't get it. We don't need to budge from our £50m position one iota. We're the only show in town

We shouldn't even offer 50m if the case is they are stuck between losing him for nowt or keeping a player for a year who wants to go, we should offer 30m and work from there.

Wouldn't even mind if he agreed to come to us next season like Lewandowski. He might be 30, but this guy definitely would have another 2-3 years at the very top even after this year.

Wenger's position is that he doesn't want to strengthen a rival team. That idea is completely understandable. However, the choice to strengthen a rival or not doesn't exist. The choice is to strengthen a rival team now and get £50M or strengthen a rival in 12 months time for nothing.

The words 'for Arsenal' should be at the end of that post, mate. Just to serve as a reminder whenever they start with their self-righteous routine.

If arsenal keep him they are putting themselves back a year might as well sell him and build a team for the next 4/5 years instead of having another position to fill next season with 50m+ less in the kitty with transfer fees rocketing!!!! It really is a no- brainer for arsenal keeping him would be the worst decision ever financially and going forward team wise.

Our spending not exactly puny this window and if we go for others also will we approach FFP barrier once again ?
The number of players that have left gives us so much FFP wage wriggle room we can literally spend a fortune this summer with 5 year contracts (the all important FFP divisor on transfer fees) I reckon we could spend £500m if push came to shove. More likely to be £250-£300m so we could spend a similar amount next summer.

It's more complicated than that. The pressure Wenger and the board were under last year will come into the decision making.
Can Arsenal play any potential sale so that the fans reluctany accept the situation? Would £50M buy an adequate replacement in this day and age? Who would be available? If Sanchez stays, would he be committed? Would we have a better chance to get back in the Champions League with him in the team? Would City still want him next year? Is there any chance he could change his mind on a contract during the season?

For what it's worth, I still think he'll join City this summer. It's just more complicated than a straight business decision though that others have mentioned.

I'm not sure what the big uproar is with regards the latest quotes to be honest. He hasn't really said anything that we didn't really already know, if you believed the reliable Chilean journalists.

So far, he's basically said he wants Champions League football, his ambition is to win the Champions League, but he has a contract for another year at Arsenal so will see what they say.

So basically, he probably won't sign the new deal, would like to leave but the ball is in Arsenal's court whether to sell him now or keep him until the end of his contract. Is that not what we've been debating what will happen the last 900 pages or so?
Lol the ball is where?
City have arsenal ball in hand and just giving a mild squeeze.
Can you smell 50million ?

No it wont. As fans you might like to think you have some power and hold sway but the reality is you dont.

The board will sanction his sale its that simple.

IMO I am sure the Arsenal board will deal in facts, and the only fact before them is that they will receive a transfer fee this year and this year only. Whether they finish in the top four next season or qualify through the back door like the rags did is only a possibility. Sentimental stuff like the fans wont come into the equation. The question for Wenger, can you achieve CL status next year without him? Wenger has to say yes.

I guarantee it will. Perhaps not in the sense of fan power forcing decisions, but they aren't stupid enough to not know that starting off the season with the scenes of last season will have a negative effect on the team. The idea this summer is to be more pro active in the market and be less seen as penny pinching, to try and get the fans (and players) back on board.

So while I think the sale will probably happen, you can bet they won't let it be perceived as an easy sale, as they know it would mean probably pissing their season away before it begins.

It was a joke twoslips no offence intended.

Sorry man! I actually don't know who this rosler person is so that joke has gone over my head! What's the deal with that person?

I just read it a little bit pissed and thought someone waa saying i had multiple accounts heh.

Sorry I just cannot bring myself.to get excited about the prospect of him coming, don't know why but I just really don't care if he signs

Maybe it's subconcious after Sanchez fucked us about when we went in early for him at Udinese and he held out for Barca that if I remember, causing a lot of annoyance on the forum?

Maybe because I only see Sane of Sterling suffering as we need to fit him into our front 3 and asuming Jesus will be in it and aguero, one of the young lads who progressed so much last year may be rotated more.(and I know we have 60+ and plenty of games to share rotations).

Maybe it's because we really don't need him and seems a pointless waste of 50m+ for a player we will probably get 2-3 years out of.

Maybe because his teasing of both us and arsenal fans of what he's gonna do next year instead of being straight and asking to leave is pretty dickish and piss taking towards the tarquins (and I hate the ****s and find anything that pisses them off funny normally , but we've had this from people.before).

Anyway if he comes I will back him as he's wearing blue, but I just feel non plussed about it.
I'd be over the moon if he signs. If he does then it gives us the most frightening forward 5 or 6 in Europe. There's virtually no drop off with rotation either.

This is the signing that puts us up with the very best in the CL.
