Alexis Sanchez

We don't need to get into a bidding war with Paris or any other club if Sanchez keeps his word and holds his nerve.

He does not report back for Arsenal until July 31st, but we will not let it drag out through August, unless we receive updates that he still only wants us.

We desperately need a striker.

Good luck to him if he goes to PSG, he could force the issue to join us but if he goes to PSG he's just gone for the easier option.

They must have a back up plan if the feeling is that we need a goalscorer and not just that we need Sanchez.

Never in for him, not what we need, he is too old anyway, and he is crap and overpriced given one year on his contract rather see Nacho stay. :-)

On that basis Khaldoon must be fairly confident that it won't be Sanchez and Mbappe this summer.

We wouldn't look to sell Sergio, he would take that decision into his own hands.

Big difference there and one which takes any previous quotes made by Khaldoon and Sergio out of the mix.

As has become apparent, Mbappe is keeping every top club in Europe waiting on his doorstep, so it is a very reactionary stance we have to deploy, simply because Pep thinks this kid is a wordly.

It's a tricky situation this. If Sanchez has given his word that he'll come to us should Arsenal agree to sell him to us, but Arsenal are point-blank refusing to then I guess we can't blame him for looking at other options if he's hell bent on leaving Arsenal. By the same token, you can't blame us for looking at options alternative to Sanchez. It's a case of at what point do City and Sanchez stick or twist in terms of him coming here - with Nacho seemingly on his way, we could end up with a scenario where we enter the last week of the window still hoping for Sanchez and with only Aguero and Jesus on our books, and if Arsenal stick to their guns we could be left with only those 2 going forward. So maybe with the days ticking down, City and Sanchez might have to come to a gentleman's agreement that we both move on and look elsewhere.

If you're using that song because you think the Brazilian tweeter is a fool, you've not understood the meaning of that song, which is about a wise man being dismissed as a fool.

Thanks for your sage insight mate, however, I was referring to the notion of them 'giving' him 222m as foolish, as it doesn't work like that.

Again, the song's not about a fool, but stupid people thinking he's a fool so using it in that context doesn't work.

Anyway, they have to physically give him the money for him to buy himself out of the contract if Barcelona don't consent and it seems like they won't. That's what happens in Spain, it's why people incur tax bills because in their laws that €222m will go down as taxable income for Neymar. There was talk of the law being changed but it never actually happened AFAIK.

The tweeter you're referring to is like a brazilian City Watch, and the article they're summarising is one that broke in Brazil last night that the person who'd give Neymar the money to buy himself out would not be PSG but a Qatari company, and then Neymar would sign on as basically a free agent.

It would be completely outrageous and I'm sure get investigated, but the idea sort of makes sense and plenty of other papers are reporting something similar now. It will be a very interesting transfer.
