Alexis Sanchez

Replacing him will cost a lot more than 50m. Lukaku is going for 100m , Lemar quoted at 80m. 50m is nothing compared to an extra year of Sanchez. Not to mention the fans revolt and the ensuing civil war.

It will be interesting to see if the club do as good a job whipping up hatred as the dippers did over Sterling. If this was immediately after Wenger announced his contract extension there would have been huge revolt regardless of the fees involved.

I hope they do. F*ck the media and everyone else. We'll never be the media darlings. Let's be the Full on bad boys. Sanchez is perfect.

From January though he could be effectively another teams player. Would you want a player in your team for 5 months who's hearts not at the club? Surely you tie him down now or sell.

Two nights ago most of the noise was all about Sanchez deciding he would stay, last night it was Cross saying he's demanding £400k a week. Basically, what i'm saying is it's all just noise so far until we find out definitively whats happening. It will be the supporters of both clubs that need to endure the rollercoaster.

Sure it will be expensive, but if you buy another player for 100 million you will have him for longer than 1 year. So you have to compare 50 million for 1 year with 100 million for 5 years (numbers are examples as we do not know the exact prices and contract length, but you get the gist I am sure). I read today that Messi gets 35 million Euro per year plus a signing bonus of 50 million Euro's for his new 4 year contract. That's yearly costs similar to what you will have to pay for Alexis for one more year. And in 1 year you still have to replace him with a 100 million pound player. I think you need to forget about the emotional aspects and just look at the hard numbers. They speak a clear language.

Couldnt care less where his heart is, as long as hes banging the goals in.

I dont think Sanchez is worth being our highest paid player after he hits 30. Its not in our interests to put him on a mega long term contract. I think hes got 2 more seasons at the top level, if he spends one of them playing for us at 130k a week its a great result.

You again are forgetting that he will play for you for 130k a week plus 50 million for 1 year. Even if he plays at his best that is too expensive. I wouldn't want him at City for that price. And as other has suggested it is perhaps a little much to hope for that he will perform at the same level as last year if he is forced to stay against his will.

I think most would agree in a normal year Wenger & The Board would accept an offer for Sanchez they deem as too good to turn down, if the noises are true and Sanchez is adamant he wants to join City. So really, it probably just boils down to how much do they are worried about their own reputation with the fans, considering the pressure that they are under. I can see reasons for both arguments for keeping him & letting him leave, in fact they've went over them probably for the last 700 pages in here, the pro's & cons get regurgitated every day, & the fact they do shows its not a clear cut decision. Whatever happens, Arsenal lose out a bit (bar him signing a new contract), so it's just what Wenger & the board see as the lesser of two evils, for themselves as much as the club.
