I think people may be being a bit too literal when Romero says "next few days". It sounds like the kind of thing that could mean 3 days if you're a City fan on tenterhooks or 3 weeks if you're a catalan journalist enjoying his summer and not refreshing twitter every 5 seconds.

Surely he'd just say in the next few weeks then, next few days is still pretty specific.

Arsenal fans will go into full meltdown and I would love to see that but this transfer isn't happening soon at all and have serious doubts if it even happens. Wenger would rather him run out his contract than come here this summer and for once I can see the board backing him on seeking to a Premier League team.

I think City would want to get this done before 17th June and Arsenal would try their best to delay which would push it beyond 2nd July. It's a proper game of baiting and haggling.

Could this be a giant smokescreen for a world-record Mbappe transfer...

I just get the feeling that if there was any chance whatsoever that we could have arguably the three best young attackers in world football (Jesus, Mbappe & Sane), then the club will be willing to offer silly money. I honestly don't doubt that Pep would prefer to sign Mbappe, but it would be incredibly difficult to achieve with Real Madrid lurking.

The word 'few' doesn't really leave that much to interpretation.

Wenger can deflect the blame onto the player who wants to play for us. No need to drag the deal out Wenger will tell the fans did everything to keep him blah blah blah but player wanted out. No doubt Sanchez playing at the Emirates can expect a few boos :-)

Why are you talking to yourself?

I hope it happens, reckon arsenal are playing along with it to not lose face to their fans. If they just sold him asap with no hesitation it would cause major uproar in tarquin land

Do you really think a club that has for years given itself a trophy for The Football Industry's Best And Most Sustainable Business Model is going to pass up the opportunity to put tens of millions of GBP in Kron . . . errrr . . . Usi . . . errrr . . . its own bank account just to let a player run down a contract?

No way.

Wenger LOVES -- I repeat, L-O-V-E-S -- playing the victim. It's his defining characteristic.

I think Wenger will but the board will eventually intervene and do this deal, the longer they wait the more chance we pull out and they lose any targets to someone else. We have all the power in this deal, will a board as stingy as Arsenals walk away from a likely all cash deal for a player who can go for a free next year? I don't see it.

we definitely do not have all the power in this deal, infact, i'd say Arsenal have all the power, if they decide they don't want to sell to us they don't and there's nothing we can do about it for 12 months

Wenger should have been born scouse

Err 50m or no 50m which one would you choose!

If I was Arsenal, I'd refuse and cling to the hope that he will agree to extend his contract.

Why would he?

Next season he leaves on a free and every man and his dog will be interested in him. He would only have to wait till January to start talking to clubs.

If he wants to leave then Arsenal would be daft to not sell him this summer.

So arsenal say no Sanchez stays and joins us in a year for nothing I don't see how arsenal benefit? He will likely join us anyway so at least get some big cash from us.
