Alexis Sanchez

I know. I'm happy with 4 out and out forwards. We started last season without Jesus and no one was screaming then.

We only play one central striker now. In the past we had two up front. We have players like Silva and De Bruyne who could also support the central striker so there's no way we're sort on numbers

The bid for Sanchez is not based around lack of cover or centre forward options, it's because of who Sanchez is and what he's done. His force of personality and capacity to win games etc. My objection is because I don't see him continuing at this level. He's already changing his game.

He's not a centre forward.

We have 2 strikers - Aguero, Jesus.

We will have 3 wingers - Sterling, Sané, Sanchez.

Yes, Sanchez can cover striker, yes Jesus can cover wide, that doesn't make Jesus a winger or Sanchez a striker.

Sanchez is by far the most important transfer and the one we have to get over the line.

I've got money on it

And that's exactly what we had last season....

I'd be more than happy for Sterling to play an impact role next season until his decision making and finishing has improved.

We are reducing the number of bodies and replacing quantity with quality.

NAVAS PLAYED IN 36 GAMES LAST SEASON.

NOLITO PLAYED IN 30 GAMES LAST SEASON.

NACHO PLAYED IN 29 GAMES LAST SEASON.

And you really think if we sell the 3 of them and replace them with one man all of the sudden Aguero and Jesus will dissapear in to thin air? They will all play a lot of games, will will score a lot more goals, we will win something this season. Is that a bad thing?
Putting them in Capitals doesn't help. Navas ended up at full back. Nolito disappeared off the planet, and Kelechi was used in the last few minutes. These players did not finish last season as key players up front.

We have more than enough forwards or players capable of playing in a forward 3

My objection is at 29 he will be no better than Aguero and if the coach wants to replace Aguero then do it with someone who is younger.

This is my last comment on this topic. It's boring repeating myself, and must be boring to read too

Presumably Alexis will anyway go on vacation for the next few weeks, so whether the transfer is completed now or in 3 weeks will not really matter. He won't be starting pre-season training on Monday anyway.

This thread warming up nicely and I have no doubt virtual fisticuffs will be being used by the time the transfer window closes. Keep it up lads a joy to behold :-)

So really you just think you know better than Pep. That clears it up.

But Robben, Ribery, Pedro etc are not out and out strikers. Aguero and Jesus are. I know we can play Jesus and Aguero together and we did at the end of last season but 4 forwards covering 3 positions Sterling, Sane, Jesus, and Aguero is enough. We also have Kelechi and Roberts, and Silva x 2, plus KDB who could play up there not to mention players like Brahim Diaz and Sancho who must be 17 or 18.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern can carry extra players as their players know they will win trophies. Players like Rodriguez and Morata stick around because they might pay in 10-15 big games and appear in a final.
Jesus has played fewer senior matches as an out and out striker than he has as a drifting wide forward.

There you go, that's the problem. You've posted the same argument hundreds of times and haven't budged even an inch. What's the point of arguing if you're just "repeating yourself" and refuse to learn or change your point of view in light of new evidence.

It is not the first time you talk about Sanchez being 29. He is in fact only 28 until December. Age is not really a topic even if you would like it to be.

Any news on that potential transfer ban? How likely is it to be enforced? Papers are saying we might use it to force our hand over Sanchez to get it done.

It's not an overnight thing. CAS will take 3-4 weeks to announce their ruling. If it goes against us, we're dead set to appeal which pushes the decision to late August.

there's a little bit of truth to that I'd imagine but you could argue that Arsenal isn't following etiquette trying to charge full price for someone at the end of their contract. so fuck em I say and say to them that we'll pay 10 million to buy off his contract and see if they back down on their asking price
I don't think there's any etiquette that dictates Arsenal shouldn't try and get the best price for their player though. They're not obliged to give him away. The quoted £50m is probably about £30m less than would anyone would have to pay if he had 3 or 4 years left on his contract. More fool them if they elect to lose him for nothing in 12 months time. Encouraging players to buy out their contracts would undoubtedly bite us on the arse further down the line and is something best avoided.

Are you sure? ......good :) .... had enough of hearing the same KUN GONE IF SANCHEZ SIGNS stuff.. He will replace whoever is going.. NOT KUN.. So we do not need the younger PLAYER for kun, as he is going NOWHERE yet. Try to re focus on a new line of thought.. Kun and Sanchez will play together in the same team.. Try it.. it makes me feel good.

I don't think that the club can allow this to drag on all summer. If that happens, and Arsenal refuse to sell, then we'll find ourselves scrambling and paying an extortionate fee to bring in another forward at the end of the window. Unless he starts making a lot of noise (putting in a transfer request etc.) soon, there are other good options that the club should move on. I would certainly not be upset if we signed Dembele instead.

Arsenal have supposedly told him that they won't sell him, so I guess it depends whether he is able or willing to force the move. This one was always going to drag on all summer.

All he has to say is fine I'll go on a free next season and watch me moan like fkuck all season walk out the office slam door.
