I suspect that City offered 40m or so early in the summer and Sanchez told Arsenal he was only going to City.

Arsenal said no straight out or said offer a lot more (60m+).

City said ok but it'll be in the last few days of the window.

Arsenal thought we were bluffing but we weren't.

Even if we give them exactly how much they wanted now (70m for example) it'll still screw them as there's no time to spend it.

They'd have been better off accepting the original offer even if it was half the amount.

Certain career Journalists are still pushing Sterling + cash for Sanchez.

Right.

We paid £50mill for Sterling.

He's young. He's English. He's in the England team. He's playing well and scoring goals. Transfer fee's have gone through the roof.

So, why would he still only be worth £50mill and cash to make up for Arsenal's valuation of Sanchez, who has one year left on his contract.

What am I missing?

Or are these career Journalists just s*** at their jobs?

It's hard to put an exact figure on Sterling, but looking at all the silly transfer fees being paid and quoted ATM, if we tried to sign him now, we wouldn't get much change from £70mill,

So if Arsenal want Sterling and we're open to selling him, I'd want Sanchez and at least £10mill of Arsenal.

Right?

Trying to 2nd guess what Arsenal will do is pretty much impossible because they are not run on logical lines. Keeping key players who want out splits and alienates the dressing room and that will destroy their season. But will Wenger see that? Ornstein is an Arsenal mouthpiece. He is just disseminating what Arsenal have told him to put out. It means absolutely nothing.

Wenger is not as stupid as some people like to make him out to be. He knows full well that keeping Sanchez will cause all kinds of trouble. This is all about Arsenal trying to get as much money for him as possible.

He has already gone from "we won't sell him at any price" to "we will sell him for a high price". I think we'll do a deal in the region of £65m plus add-ons. I expect that those add-ons will be significant such that, when lumped together with the up-front fee (as they are always quoted), will make the overall price look very high. Or at least high enough to placate the Arsenal supporters.
