I felt for him on the bench at Anfield. He must have felt the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Wenger should have learnt by now that you can't keep players against their will and then control where they go. Hard as it is sometimes you have to accept it and move on and build for the future with new players who actually want to play for the club. Did he really think refusing was going to make Alexis change his mind or be happy ? What world. Surprised Alexis didn't take to the field on Sunday with 'slave' on his face a la Prince !

It's very frustrating. We have a Billionaire owner who has no desire or ambition on a sporting level to drive us to win.

We have a 30% shareholder, twice as rich, with obviously the money, but more importantly the drive & ambition to actually push the club forward, who is totally ignored, & isn't even allowed to set foot in the boardroom.

In the background you have Africa's richest man throwing out soundbites about wanting to own Arsenal within 2 years.

Only Arsenal can have 3 Billionaire's hovering around them, & still act like a poverty club. It's laughable really.

As others have said, Wenger isn't the only problem. It stems from the owner, through to the board who must have an average age of 70 years old (Sir Chips Keswick, Ken Friar, Lord Harris etc), through to the Chief Exec & down through the manager & into the players.

Swales got himself a board full of comfortable yes men to keep him in power.

If you remember the FFP corruption Wenger & Arsenal so strongly backed, this will actually fuck Arsenal right over, if they allow themselves to regularly slip out of Champions League contention, as even if a multi billionaire takes over, he is not actually allowed to spend any money, you have to generate it through the club.

A catch 22 designed to keep Arsenal, Utd, Liverpool etc from being caught by other clubs getting investement, could actually become a prison which condemns Arsenal to unending mediocrity.

That letter, financial doping comments, can't compete with a club funded by a country blah blah blah. Fuck the zippy old bastard.

More poetry :)

Fair play to you mate I have a few mates who follow arsenal home and away and are disillusioned at the moment big mistake keeping Wenger on! Wenger deserves respect but he should have stepped aside after the FA Cup final win he does not deserve to be pilloried.

I feel for him too, but why keep putting yourself through it? There's several theories behind what's going on at Arsenal. Is there decent money there? Who is choosing not to spend it? Is he getting the backing or is he being used as a front because he tends to deliver what Kronke & co want. I seen 1 theory that suggested the top managers within the game like Allegri don't want the Arsenal job because it is well known that they won't get the resources needed. I just don't know what to believe any more.

At least you can get a discount when you re-carpet the boardroom, although @Bill might like the opportunity to quote for the work.

In reply to GunnerGer;

True. I actually feel for you mate. I know most on here wouldn't. It's not that I sympathise with your fan base, especially the likes of MrDT but I do empathise.

One things for sure is you are nowhere near where City were, you've a long way to go yet, but looking logically from the outside I think we can all see some Arsenal fans heading the same delusional path that Liverpool fans went down, assuming that their way is right and the board are working for the good of the club.

I know the deal isn't done yet but a lot on here who have no ITK status at all have predicted it would pan out the way it is doing. That's just looking at the track record of Arsenal over the past number of years.

I think personally you need rid of Wenger, firstly. With or without Sanchez, he is going to lead you further into the mire.

Keep your sense of humour and keep posting regardless mate.

I do actually believe that they had the utmost intentions of keeping certainly Sanchez, & probably the Ox as well, i actually reckon he thought he could get them fully focussed, contending & try & persuade 2 if not 3 of them to sign new contracts, however deluded that might sound. The Liverpool game & the manner of the defeat probably blew all that apart. Heard stories of dressing room inquests, demands about players commitments etc after the game. That's when the actual reality probably hit.

Sanchez is all but gone. We'll probably cave in around the £60M-£65M mark. Ox will go to Liverpool, probably around the £35M mark. We'll make over £100M+ in the space of a day, wont buy any real replacements, be at a net profit of £60M for the transfer window, & we'll compete with Everton for 6th.
unless you are an arsenal shareholder, that is fucking depressing!!

That game could end up being your Luton '83 in terms of its seismic impact on the club. I think they've spectacularly miscalculated.

My sympathy goes out of the window for anyone on the money he is on when he is either out of his depth now, stubborn beyond belief or has other motives. Whatever it is he should recognise he has and should have gone. This guy is not stupid, he is a very intelligent man. How it has come to this I do not know.

That club whatever anyone says has all the necessary requirements to be competing at the top - stadium, fan base and money in the bank
