Likewise, you have no way of knowing whether FFP is an issue with regards to this transfer. In fact, I don't even know why FFP has crept into this topic to the point that people are now taking it as gospel because I can't see any official sources quoting that as the reason why we're haggling over the fee. All I can see is some bitter desperate twat over on Red Cafe saying it's an issue.

I never said I did know but pointed out it may be an issue if we have plans for expensive acquisitions in the Summer.

I just don't believe that FFP is the sticking point and instead it's standard haggling between the 2 clubs. I reckon if it gets done it will be around £30 million

The history of Txiki negotiations tells us that we will end up paying whatever Arsenal want.

As others have said, I can see it not happening before the league cup 2nd legs.
Then if they get through, would they really sell him to us as probably their best chance of winning that game, and only remaining viable chance of a trophy?
How would he play in a final against us?

A lot more to run in this one

Be interesting what pep and peg say in the press conferences this afternoon. Especially peg, I reckon it's nailed on that he will mention our wealth and that they can't compete.

"Man city buy world class strikers for £20m..."

It could be the PL FFP with the restrictions on wage rises within one season though. It's possible we want to keep the fee as low as possible so that we can frontload more of his wages into the signing on fee. We got rid of high earners in the summer but brought in first xi players who won't be on peanuts, added to that many of the players we shipped out were on loan last season and when we went in for Sanchez in the summer we possibly understated the cost of new deals for the current squad.

Just listened to the CityWatch podcast with Maks Cárdenas, great insight to what happened / whats going on. Seems like its all on Wenger at the minute..Sanchez apparently doesn't want to disrespect Arsenal fans by refusing to play / transfer req. Maks says he only wants City atm and gave his word to Pep.

Great listen to anyone who likes that kinda thing.

Won't get done till the last week & that's only if Arsenal sign someone.

UTD, PSG or even Liverpool can chuck mega bucks at Arsenal & Sanchez but he ain't arsed about the big bucks it's simple he wants Pep & City.

Yes he will get a good deal but he could double his finances at UTD & Wenger would get a decent price but it ain't happening.

City will sit tight on this & Sanchez will keep quite, he is a professional & he will not put in a transfer.

I guess the injury to Jesus & how long out will decide what City are prepared to go but it sounds like 20m is on the table & not a penny more.

I think we are just doing what Soriano and Txiki used to do when they were at Barca. They used to find out for sure that players wanted Barca and only Barca and then low ball on the price knowing that it mattered not what other clubs offered in terms of transfer fee. I may be wrong but I seem to recall them doing exactly that when they signed Sanchez for Barca and we were offering more.

Yeah, I remember that too - I think they paid Udinese less than what City were offering at the time. The tactic works fine providing the player doesn't double-cross us

It would be interesting to know if interest from the other clubs is real. I'm not convinced there are any other offers, but from what you say it doesn't matter anyway

Were you privy to these negotiations or are you basing that on media bullshit?

Just basing it on transfers like Stones, Mendy, Walker etc where the figure required to get the transfer over the line was quoted weeks prior to them signing and lo and behold we ended up paying it according to figures released. I am no more privy to the negotiations than you are, so we can only go off the info we are given.

Really interesting listen.

Yeah understand that, but how much would Alexis’s demands have had to increase to make City baulk despite a £30m reduction in fee?

Plus if he only wants City and to play for Pep, why would his demands have gone up at all? Especiallly if we’re happy to wait until the summer and he wants out now.

Not sure where Mullock is coming from on this one, it doesn’t add up to me.

Suspect the United stuff is more to try and force us to get it done/pay the asking price than anything else.

It doesn't add up when it's mentioned we are reluctant to offer Alexis three-and-a-half years.

At what stage during the last five months did Sanchez decide, "I know, I now want three-and-a-half years!"

As opposed to what, three? Two, even?

C'mon, people.

There isn't a club out there who would commit to such a financial outlay and then not limit their own exposure, in terms of the player being able to agitate for a move on such a short contract.

That half year is already in play, with us trying to do the deal in January.

What, we're gonna decide his agreement means he can quit as a free transfer in January 2021, rather than the natural ending of July 2021?

If it smells like bullshit...

That's a possibility but I do think it's nothing more than standard negotiation tactics from both sides

Indeed, and you'd rather believe the bullshit media reporting to dig Txiki out when in truth, just like me, you had no idea how the negotiations went.

WTF is wrong with people? Seriously?

Look at the position this club finds itself in on and off the pitch and still people try to find fault and criticism?? I pity them.

Jeez it was a tongue in cheek comment. Look at the position this club finds itself in on and off the pitch yet some are still so uptight.
