This is definitely starting to become reminiscent of the Alves saga. Player has agreement with City and has committed himself to working under Pep. Club is so confident that they rest on their laurels with a false sense of confidence and look on in bewilderment as story after story comes out that the player is edging closer to another club. Ultimately though, if it is the case that he is more interested in perusing a massive pay-cheque, then this isn't the sort of player that we should be chasing. We do need to bring in an additional striker though so I'm not too fussed as long as there is a "Plan B" should this fall-through.

Cut price deal for someone who will instantly improve us.

What the fuck are we doing really.

It’s also a message that United can draw the big players if we don’t get him.

Surely, wherever he is going, his agent will talk to people from more than one club ?

Does this not mean, Arsenal have agreed to let him go, we have already agreed a package & he talks to whoever, before 'deciding' whee he moves, same as if we hadn't already spoken to him in the summer ?
I don't think anybody is saying that he's 100% going to rags. It just appears that United and Sanchez's agent have talked and they've offered a better deal. Keep in mind that the agent also gets a cut of the money, so he'll obviously want Sanchez to go to the highest bidder considering the circumstances surrounding the player. Besides it's not like United are never going to win the prem again. Maybe not this season, but you know what I mean. Think it's down to Sanchez. If he says okay, then it's a done deal within hours, considering that United are offering a better contract and bidding higher. Win-win for all sides (except City obviously). Let's see where City stand on this. One thing is clear, if Txiki and co decide that we're not going to rival United's bid/offer, then we'll soon see briefs from City side stating that the price is too high (similar to what Mullock wrote).

United will push the boat out to get him as it is their only shot at getting one up on us this season and it salvages all sorts of pride with their supporters and the media will use it to push the United rising, City slipping argument they need to keep the season alive as a competition.

Does not mean he will go to them but does explain why they will do anything to try.

If Wenger/Arsenal even contemplated selling to their direct rival this season then they have lost the plot. I can't for one minute believe that even they would be that stupid - but it is Wenger so you never know. I thought the Alvez thing was bull shit and was telling everyone to calm down and I was made to look a c**t so not going down that road. IF and it's a massive IF Sanchez chose Un**ed over us then he id defo not the type of player we want or need.

Incredible really if we don’t get him, especially after what happened in the summer. Turns down bayern, turns down PsG, we bid 60 million..... come january we aren’t bidding more than 20, fuck sake.
