Whilst Tolmie sometimes expresses fears and concerns and has taken a similar stance with you regarding this Sanchez saga, he also shares in the joy whenever we win. I think it's strange to never relish the good moments of the club and there have been many this season.
Because if I do the usual suspects usually slag me off for that too.

the only one that I want this year is the title and we are getting closer even without him so really don’t feel anything

Everyone on this thread is acting as though It's over. All we know is that he isn't with Arsenal today. But Malcolm is apparently close to a move to Arsenal, so it isn' outside the realms of possibility that once that is done, Arsenal will sell to us. Interesting that the people reporting that he prefers the rags are arsenal mouthpieces...

All the reliable Arsenal sources yesterday and today say it's done/agreed to United. Simply put, they've gone all in with the agent and outdone our wages and paid what Arsenal want.
He's not travelled with Arsenal today and probably will be leaked just before kick off knowing Arsenal/United.

Now before people start crying at Txiki or blaming the club, remember that we're steering away from paying over the odds wages. We've been stung by lots of players contracts that made getting older players out of the door difficult. We had wiggle room for one of Peps faves but this wasn't a transfer that changed our side, it gave us good options for Sane/Aguero during a busy schedule. This more importantly leaves a bigger budget for the summer. Sanchez remember is not a striker that's in the top 10 in the world. That's where we should be looking ideally.

The most strange aspect of this transfer is why Arsenal would sell to United. They are the most achievable to catch out of us and United so they are writing their own death warrant. They really have no plan to challenge the top 4.. Wenger will be out soon anyway.

Does anyone actually know ANYTHING or is this just twitter journo speculation?

I'm strangely not gutted he's moving on, even to United. It's been obvious for a while he's leaving, his era at Arsenal has now been and going. From our point of view, I'm just hoping for a bit of a rebuild over the next couple of windows. At least it would give us something different to look forward to.

From your perspective, I said it in the summer, and I said it before Utd came in for him, I honestly don' think he would improve you that much. I honestly don't think he is that next level signing any more, and you guys level is pretty high to begin with. I know he got slated but there were things I agreed with Marv on.

In simple terms, I'd rather have Pep and his vision, than Mourinho and a 29 year old Sanchez.

One of the family is an Arsenal season ticket holder. He shares your view also. He reckons he’s lost that yard of pace and not the same player he was. Still a very good player but his best years are behind him. Also he said the stories of unrest with him are the tip of the iceberg. He has kept saying throughout this saga that we would be better investing in a younger world class striker that would eventually replace Kun.

In 4 years time we won't be concerned about Sanchez being at the rags, but they will still be worried about, Sane, Sterling, Bernardo, KDB, Jesus, etc..

I prefer our policy of buying young, hungry and potentaily world class players who are here for the long term plan.

IF we don't sign Sanchez, I for one will be disappointed in fact I'd be gutted. Hopefully we wont see post after post suddenly claiming he's shit and we didn't want him anyway, he's a mercenary etc etc.

We did want him, and as a fan I'd have loved him here. I won't be slating him. He's a professional footballer, he doesn't support City. He's entitled to play for whichever team he chooses, just like when we were signing players after the Takeover, Adebayour, Tevez, Bellemy, Barry all got tons of abuse for coming here. Dickhead supporters from all clubs giving it out about money. Even Palace fans were at it with their shit banners lets not forget. We didn't sign mercenaries, we signed professional footballers. This isn't personal for Sanchez, it's his career and none of us would turn down a hefty pay rise to change job so fair play to him for screwing the Rags over - if he goes there!

United have as a club become what their fans once mocked, I won't become what their fans once were - whinging about choosing money over trophies. He chooses them so be it, he isn't insulting us or the club, for him it's business.

On the positive side, this isn't a 'biggest cock' competition, and if MCFC don't think the deal is right then that's fine with me. As pointed out, huge transfer fee, agents fee, wages all for a player that would be available free at the end of the season so this isn't a huge Coup for Utd.

They can't spin it any way on this, one of their 'LegEnds' has stated publicly that Sancez is better off with us. We chose not to pursue this, no 'victory' for them at all.

He would actually qualify comfortably as 'mercenary' if he went to Utd, for more money. (He's not going there for the likely title win).

Because if I do the usual suspects usually slag me off for that too.

Then report any posts you feel over step the line.

In the meantime this is the Sanchez thread and not the Big Fave Watson thread so lets all move on please.

Cheers

Well that's bullshit. Show me?

I agree that his best football is behind him , I have seen the things he could do for Arsenal two seasons ago on a regular basis only fleetingly this season.

I think if you got the reported 60 mill we offered for him in the summer with one season left on his contract that would have been a great bit of business for Arsenal especially if they got one or two quality replacements for the money.

Looks like 40 mill plus for Ox wasn't so bad also.

Good sensible post!

We were going to get Walker anyway. Danilo is the one that replaced Alves. And Hazard was amazing when he joined Chelsea, wasn't a half season wonder at all.

Sorry, I stand corrected Hazard was a one season wonder, followed by another season in 2016/17 if you want to be pedantic over phraseology. This season and 2015/16 he is and was anonymous. What was your justification for claiming we missed out on RVP, I missed that?

Well said and I think 99% of blues echo your thoughts....he’s a nice to have for cheap but a very short term deal

People say stuff on here & it's taken as gospel.

Nobody knows when Utd first approached Sanchez, all they know, is when they first 'heard' about it.

as you say, we won't break our wage structure, for him.
Not only that, they also ‘know’, he only wants Pep, he turned down PSG AND Munich in the summer and he’d never want to play for Maureen. Well, maybe none of that is true? Also, this idea that going there is a backward step from Arsenal is fanciful. Whatever Maureen’s philosophy is or isn’t, this is the 4th best start they’ve had in the history of the PL. If there’s one thing he knows how to do, it’s win cup matches, especially over 2 legs. Sanchez might go to the dark side and they might win the CL and FA cup, contributing hugely. Then again........

He won them the title. Pretty big justification.

It has a great success rate.

We have therefore signed players, who want to be here.

We are 15 points clear, playing the best football we have ever seen, with players who are totally committed to working their balls off for the team & have a fantastic team spirit.

Fuck paying for some ****'s retirement plan, that's what Utd now do.
Is there anyone that doesn't think Sanchez wanted to leave Arsenal for City? For whatever reason we said we would pay only £20m and wouldn't enter a bidding war.

If we had not said that we could have paid close to Arsenal's asking price and he may well have been on the bench for us today.

Asking £35m was not unreasonable in today's market and they probably would have settled for £30m?
