Alexis Sanchez

Exactly, with Ibra they got a guy in the latter of his career on wages miles more than his worth and he has scored what a handful, got injured and then signed on again only to disappear... Brilliant job, christ knows who negotiated that one and is it any wonder he went there.

The same can be applied to Lukaku and Pogba, both just expensive players who are okay alright but nowhere near worth the money paid. We again had a hand in potentially signing Pogba but rightly we stood our ground.

I had my doubts about Txiki and Soriano at first but when you see our financial results and the football we are playing.. The blokes are doing a sterling job really and I don't think there will be many losing any sleep if they do the right thing in standing their ground again on this one.

I think a lot of the credit so far has to go to Pep , he has instilled a spirit in the side that was missing by and large in MP last two seasons.

Mendy hasn't played much , Walker and Stones have been good additions and we hope there is a lot more to come from Ederson and Bernado.

Even with the Sanchez situation notwithstanding Arsenal playing hard ball to give the rest of the world the impression they are not a feeder club for the likes of City and Manure etc its likely Sanchez who will most likely end at Manure is going to a club he doesn't really want to go to because he feels Pep can make him a better player than he is at Arsenal.

Fully support the clubs stance on Alexis.

He had shown his true self and wouldn’t even want him now. Let him to go the rags for silly money.
I've read no quotes from Alexis himself ? judge when a decision has been made not on hearsay. whatever the outcome we are the winners.

We don't need him , we might want him but there is a big difference.

Arsenal don't need the money believe me what they need is to revamp their squad to make it more competitive but the board and Wenger either don't know how to do it or for some reason don't want to do it.

It makes sense for Wenger to keep him until the years end and increase the chances no end a non English side will secure his services.

My thoughts are based on the postulation that Sanchez only wants to City, well mainly to Pep.
We just don't know, as Sanchez himself did state absolutely nill, nada, nothing.

Maybe we don't need Sanchez, but we do need cover for our left wing. Sané being on a burn-out.
And it was pointed out a trillion times Sanchez was a perfect fit for several reasons.

If Sanchez wanted to join City no matter what - we'd either sign him or there would be a bunch of negative talk from Arsenal about not trading him whatsoever. Maybe there would be some false trade rumors on Arsenal's side hoping to drive up Sanchez's price prior to sale for us.

What seems to have happened is that Sanchez said to Pep that I want to join City. Pep set this in motion in the summer and it fell through due to incompetence by Arsenal; but, we had agreed wages with Sanchez.

Now, in the Winter window, it appears as if Sanchez wants to sweeten his Manchester City deal or is willing to join another club. In other words, Sanchez is backing away from his previous commitment on wages and/or intent to join City.

And that's the red line.

If you don't want to join City, we're not interested in you.

If you agree to wages, that's it - we'll go all out for you given your promise of joining us for these wages.

Screw with us after your promise - we're no longer interested.

Sanchez is screwing with us - and thus is not a man of his word. That's the red line for Pep. He'll not be a member of our squad.
======
And probably we dodged a bullet - Sanchez is skilled for sure, but is getting past his prime.

He's not well liked by players/management at Arsenal currently - so, if he doesn't get his way with regards to playing time/whatever - there's trouble brewing.

On top of all this - he's a luxury - we're currently OK in the winger/striker department - center back is probably our biggest need plus a holding mid to take over for Fernandinho once he's too old.
======
TL/DR - Sanchez is a luxury signing which would improve our squad. But if he's going to dick around for wages having previously agreed terms - and if he's a potential dressing room liability - pass.

Now you come to mention it, didn't Pep say exactly this in an interview some while back? I'd forgotten but thinking about it, I am sure he did. Basically that he wants hungry, keen and committed players who *want* to be here and if you are not that, we don't want you.

Sorry but nobody knows whether any of this is true. Like everyone else you are giving your opinion. Nobody knows if it's over and he's going to united or whether he may still come to City. Until he has signed on dotted line for anyone, he remains an arsenal player !
