All rather amazing re Mancini's 'caution'

I'm hoping that the board have said to Mancini you have 2 seasons to build a team capable of consistantly challenging for the title.

They gave Huighes 18 months and In that time he didn't really demonstrate that he was the man to take the team forward. His signings were shown to be narrow minded, he actually did better when asked to sign middle ranking players around the £6-10m mark (Given / Kompany / Zabbaleta / SWP ) . He was tactically naive to the point of stupidity, who in their right mind would play a midfield of Barry / Ireland / SWP / Bellamy ?

Mancini on the other had has demonsrated he is tactiacally light years away from hughes, granted we aren't as good to watch but I'm not shitting myself everytime the opposition has an attack!

I think he has signed players with the potential to improve and grow together as a team, the average age of the team must be around 24(?)

I think Mancinis problem will come if we are in a similar postion in December as we were under Hughes last year. The press are waiting to crank up the pressure , City failing would make great headlines after all the investment.

Look at Benitez last year, the press were determined to force the Liverpool board to sack him, which in terms split the fans and lost him his job. Is Roy Hodgson really a better manager than Benitez !!

We need to accept that Mancini may need time to mould a team , we have a great squad but football is not as simple as buying the best players. We all have a part to play in this, our mantra should be always back your manager. I have firm belief that he will get us there given time.....

One thing that the owners will have realised this summer is just how expensive it is to sack a manager. Not in terms of the redundancy pay of the manager and his staff, but in all the new players that the new guy will want to sign.

And you can guarantee that any manager that took over from Mancini would expect an initial transfer budget of £100m+. The top managers wouldnt join City if they were going to be given less in transfer funds than Hughes and Mancini, they would see it as an insult.

Agreed eddie, but the overall point is that we have a top class manager, a top class board and a top class side. We are playing good football. If we somehow finish 6th, it isn't the end of the world. This club, and in particularly the blend of talent we have at it, is far more important than a single bad season.

Two seasons ago, Benitez challenged for the league and came close in Europe. He was hailed as finally getting his Liverpool side together and one or two alterations meant that he would be storming the title. Last season he had a god awful season and they sacked him. This is the guy who won the CL, got them to another CL final, and has always hovered around that 3rd-4th spot. He's their most successful manager since Paisley. But he finished 6th once so they sacked him.

Mancini isn't an 'instant success' manager. He doesn't seem to have done this anywhere he has been unlike Capello and Mourinho. He is a guy who needs time to stamp his authority on the club and the team. Due to this, to sack him before he has had chance to build it would be a blunder of Fergusonesque proportions. People were calling for his head too, just like they were with Wenger's, just like they will be with Woy (who is another builder).

There's no reason to change anything. We all know the state of the club, we all know that Mancini is a good manager, we all know that our players are good. We have the perfect recipe for success, there is no need to bugger this up because we have a few dodgy results and end up in sixth this season. We will get there, if we just shut our fucking mouths for once and allow these guys to work their magic.

Liverpool craved the Premiership title more than anything and that's one thing Benitez did not deliver. He didn't get anywhere near it. Besides, they also finished 5th in the season they won the Champions League. His record in transfers is quite poor, too. I'd hope we don't make those kind of expensive mistakes under Mancini. Regardless of the money we have. It's the point of the thing.

Mancini is an instant success Manager. That's the point! Coppa Italia with Fiorentina, UEFA Semis and Coppa Italia with Lazio, Coppa Italia with Inter and then Serie A with Inter. We want success and Trophies with City by the end of 10/11. It's not arrogant or unfair to expect this. The budget, the Manager, the Squad...

Expect.
