I understand this completely.Non-dog owner signing in.
I can't think of anything more lovely than being sat with a nice glass of something, log burner roaring, and a pair of golden retrievers or golden labradors asleep on the rug.
Trouble is, wife and I both don't want our lives to revolve around dogs (or at least have that responsibility 24/7), and I also have no desire to feel the terrible sadness when you lose them.
We know many people with dogs, and each summer we go dog sitting in Tavistock for two rather excellent weeks for friends, so we know the score.
Wife will possibly get one if I shuffle off this mortal coil first, and to those of you who look after dogs in need I salute you.
I know, same as you are out for 10 minutes or a week :)
Mine has a big lump on the back of her neck, its rock hard and the vet said its just a hard lump nothing to worry about, she also has softer ones on her ribs, was the one you had removed a spongy one ?
Take screenshot of pic3 rescues Alfie, Timmy and LBW . All a story in themselves, Alf and LBW are blind. Timmy arrived with an old facial injury due to some ****. Tried posting pic but “file is too large” .
Booked next year for Porthleven Cornwall, very dog friendly apparantly :)Where are going on holidays in the U.K. with your dogs ? We’ve been going up to Northumberland, which is fantastic, with great beaches . But for a change we are off to Manobier in Pembrokeshire for a change . We’ve never been before but looks nice .
Benign then ?It was a quite large and mobile lump.
The vet advised for it to be removed so we went ahead.
King of the Castle :) great photo
Loves the pub, is that what you tell the wife ;)Sable Roan Show Cocker, really chilled dog who loves the pub. Nearly 5 years old.
Fantastic temperament.
Previously had a Black & Tan Cocker that was half show and half working, he was a lot more energetic.
Great story mate, proper belly laugh :)![]()
Bert says hi.
He was a magnificent dog, stubborn and scared in equal measure.
Scared of coats on chairs, bunting, moved furniture, plastic bags...
A 25kg bundle of muscle, but as gentle as a sausage.
We witnessed his fury twice - a door to door seller put his foot in the door to stop it being closed after my wife had told him she wasn't interested.
And a very pushy pitty tried to break into our tent when we were camping. He launched at the entrance like a cannonball and sent him away.
We took him into a cafe once in St. David's, Wales.
He was startled by a pram.
Unfortunately, he had wrapped his lead around the central pedestal of our cast-iron table.
Over it went, spilling crockery, coffee, and cakes all over the floor, and into the next table, which also went over. Meanwhile, he is still charging, now frightened by the noise. I laugh now, but, oh the shame.
Any tips on improving recall with other dogs. Mines about 20 months and all he wants to do is play with others recall is perfect rest of the time (even with squirrels and birds etc.) just other dogs !
