From today's performance he has demonstrated that he has not lost that stupid petulant streak.

I am being 100% totally serious when I say I don't think he is worth the risk in a knockout scenario like the 2006 Portugal game.

Yes he is world class, but in a knockout comp where referees are notoriously strict, I'd rather take someone like Defoe or Bent and that is NOT an exaggeration

what I'm basically saying is this:

90 mins of Defoe is better than 50 minutes of Rooney and having to play with 10 men in a high pressure game.

so let me get this straight, you wouldnt play your best player incase he gets sent off?

I don't quite think your cut out for football management

plays shit in friendlys
but he will turn it on in SA ...imo hes not "world class"
but a very good player.

That's exactly right ......

in South Africa Rooney will prove that he certainly ISN'T world class .......

he'll go hiding when the 'big guns' block his way ........ just like he always does

you can bet Coleens bank balance on it!

Re: Wayne Rooney is a liability

How many times did he give the ball away today? He's not in form at the min.... infact he's not been the same since he got that ankle injury. He didn't continue his scoring record towards the end of the season and not scored in his last 4 England games.

Verdict: He's fooking exhausted cos baconchops played all the fcuking time, the boy needs a proper rest imo.

Re: Wayne Rooney is a liability

Not surprised he got agitated, he's been used to quality service from his Rag colleagues all season. Rooney's a fantastic player and England through and through and to suggest putting Defoe, Crouch or Heskey ahead of Rooney is bordering on the ridiculous. Its time to accept that the seasons over we should put our bitterness aside for a few weeks and and enjoy the World cup.

Re: Wayne Rooney is a liability

World class defenders know how to wind him up to.

this could be right and maybe why he is getting frustrated as he probably feels that he is not firing on all cylinders

Re: Wayne Rooney is a liability

I agree with Lee.
Rooney isn't world class, a good player but over hyped up by our papers. He done fuck all first and second half yet won man of the match.

In the first half he gave the ball away alot they said he was poor. Second half he had a good shot then he got man of the match. shit really.

We need him though but we can't relie on Rooney to win us a world cup. We have 11 good players who are able to do it together but no, for some reason they fall apart when we don't have Rooney.

world class is a term thrown around to easily for my liking in my time there has only been in my opinion 3/4 players who i would term world class the first two easy pele and marradona the 3rd messi and the 4th ronaldinho even if it was only for a 2/3 year period
i think rooney is in that category just below said players along with the likes of cruyff, best and tranny

world class players win games on there own for as much as i think rooney is a top player with certain exceptional qualities i can never see him pulling something out of the bag on his own as the first 4 players mentioned did and have done on many occasions for there clubs and countries

Re: Wayne Rooney is a liability

average player who cant pass..the media frenzy to build him up rolls on
